PREPARING FOR THE EXAM
FORMULATING QUESTIONS FOR THE EXAM 
 Formulate five questions (in pairs) 
One question concerning SRL, one concerning CL, one 
concerning LE, two combining different themes 
Not too narrow, not too comprehensive questions  
 Not such questions where you can answer either yes or no 
 Not too wide: What is SRL etc. 
Good question is 
 based on the material 
 concentrating to relevant contents 
 asks learner’s own thinking 
 problem-based, presents a problem/ real life example and 
attach the question to that 
 demands argumentation
IMPLEMENTATION 
 Mon 15.12. 
Group I: 14.30-15.15 
Group II: 15.15-16.00 
 1-2 questions/ student 
Group can assist 
 Joint questions in the end
EVALUATION 
 Good answer is 1) based on the science books, 2) 
well focused, and 3) well argued. 
 Final grade = exam (1-5) + science book (+/- one 
grade) + participation (+/- one grade)
EVALUATION OF SCIENCE BOOKS 
 Knowledge base – All key points must be succinctly developed. 
Concepts are to be clearly elaborated and knowledge well 
established. Students should demonstrate familiarity with the 
phenomenon being studied. 
 Structure – Work produced show clear arrangement. Opening, 
body and closing should be adequately conceptualized and 
structured. Title and subtitle should also be concise and 
informative. Overall design and presentation must adhere to 
guidelines. 
 Use of references - References must be utilized in accordance 
to instructions given. All sources should be properly documented. 
 Analysis and reflection – The main ideas of the project must be 
well evaluated by the group. The discussions and conclusion 
presented should be critical and analytical, and thoughtful 
considerations given to the materials used. 
 Collaboration – Every individual is expected to contribute 
accordingly. Each member of the group should be equally 
committed to the outcome of the project.

higher/ lower grade because of very active/ passive

PREPARING FOR THE EXAM: FORMULATING QUESTIONS

  • 2. FORMULATING QUESTIONS FOR THE EXAM  Formulate five questions (in pairs) One question concerning SRL, one concerning CL, one concerning LE, two combining different themes Not too narrow, not too comprehensive questions   Not such questions where you can answer either yes or no  Not too wide: What is SRL etc. Good question is  based on the material  concentrating to relevant contents  asks learner’s own thinking  problem-based, presents a problem/ real life example and attach the question to that  demands argumentation
  • 3. IMPLEMENTATION  Mon 15.12. Group I: 14.30-15.15 Group II: 15.15-16.00  1-2 questions/ student Group can assist  Joint questions in the end
  • 4. EVALUATION  Good answer is 1) based on the science books, 2) well focused, and 3) well argued.  Final grade = exam (1-5) + science book (+/- one grade) + participation (+/- one grade)
  • 5. EVALUATION OF SCIENCE BOOKS  Knowledge base – All key points must be succinctly developed. Concepts are to be clearly elaborated and knowledge well established. Students should demonstrate familiarity with the phenomenon being studied.  Structure – Work produced show clear arrangement. Opening, body and closing should be adequately conceptualized and structured. Title and subtitle should also be concise and informative. Overall design and presentation must adhere to guidelines.  Use of references - References must be utilized in accordance to instructions given. All sources should be properly documented.  Analysis and reflection – The main ideas of the project must be well evaluated by the group. The discussions and conclusion presented should be critical and analytical, and thoughtful considerations given to the materials used.  Collaboration – Every individual is expected to contribute accordingly. Each member of the group should be equally committed to the outcome of the project.

EVALUATION OF PARTICIPATION  Made by each small group  Evaluation sheet General description how your group have worked with science books Evaluate the equality of participation  Do you want to name somebody who you think has received higher/ lower grade because of very active/ passive participation? How would you grade your own book (based on the criteria presented in the beginning of the THEORY course)
