I have to teach Life Orientation this year, ensuring I cover the syllabus as well as some study methods. This lesson was focused on what life-long learning is and it's importance. I also included Planning for studies, as the time for all of this is not enough and we have to double-up on lessons sometimes.

9. 1 Be open to learning
Be accepting of new information.
2 Don’t knock it ‘till you’ve tried it.
Approach new information or situations with a positive attitude.
3 Don’t fake it.
Nobody expects you to know everything. If you lie about what
you know, you look like a fool.

11. 7 Have fun.
Focus on the things you like. Don’t wait for knowledge and wisdom to fall
in your lap. Go out and look for it.

14. Tools for exam preparation
• Large pieces of paper or lining paper to chart ideas.
• Water for hydration.
• Index cards.
• Coloured pens.

• Good sleep (8 hours).

15. Everyday planning
The key to a successful life is effective planning, and executing
the plan faithfully.
Step 1: Assign a space where you will study – NOT on your bed. ( I know it’s more
comfortable, but that is the problem!) Usually a desk and a chair.
Step 2: Clean the space around you – your study space should be clutter-free and
organised.
Step 3: Have a proper plan or schedule for your studies.
