Future with GOING TO
Plans, arrangements and predictions

We use GOING TO (do something) when we have
the intention or we have decided to do something.
It is most appropriate to use GOING TO when you
have made Predictions and Arrangements.
HE IS GOING TO RUN THIS EVENING.

We can talk about the future using the present
simple of be followed by “going to” and the
infinitive.

Plans
•We're going to buy a new car next month.
•I'm going to work in a bank when I leave school.
•He's not going to go to the cinema. He's got too much work.
•I'm not going to watch TV until my science project is finished.

Predictions
-It’s going to rain later.
-The sky is very black. It is going to snow.
-It's 8.30! You're going to miss the train!
-I crashed the company car. My boss isn't going to be very happy!

-I’m going to have dinner with John tonight.
-Next week I’m going to travel to Berlin for a few days.
-I’m finally going to see that film tonight.
-She’s meeting me at 7 o’clock.
