HABIT 4: Think WIN-WIN
HABIT 5: Seek First to understand..
HABIT 6: Synergy
HABIT 7: Sharpen to Saw
Think win-win is not:
Think win-lose : attitude wear
many face like using others for your own
selfish, get ahead of others, putting
someone down to build up yourself, and
becoming jealous and envious with
others.
Is the foundation for getting along well with other people, and it is the attitude toward life, a
mental frame of mind that says I can win, and so can you. It begins with the believe that
we are all equal, that no one is inferior or superior to anyone else, and no one really needs
to be.
Think lost-lost:
it mean that if I’m
going to down, then
you’re going down
with me.
Think lose-win:
is weak. It’s easy to
get stepped on, be a
nice guy, being a
peaceful maker.
HOW TO THINK WIN-WIN
Win the private victory first is start from you.
Avoid the tumor twins
Competition becomes dark when you tie
yourself-worth into winning to place
yourself above others.
Comparing is yourself against your own
potential.
THE FRUIT OF THE WIN-
WIN SPIRIT
Thinking win-win will fill
your heart with happy and
serene thoughts. It will give
you confidence. Event fill
you with light
BeforeI can walk in another’s shoes, I must first remove my own. By unknown.
BU
T
You can show you are care by simply taking
time to listen without judging and without
giving advice.
- Spacing out is
when someone is
talking to us but we
ignore them because
our mind is
wandering off in
another galaxy.
- Pretend listing is
when we aren’t paying
attention to the other
person, but at least we
pretend.
- Selective listening
is where we pay
attention only to the part
of the conventions that
interests us.
- Word listening
is when we listen only
to the words, not to the
body language, the
feeling, or the true
meaning behind the
words.
- Self-centered listening happens when we see
everything from our own point of view by judging, advising,
probing instead of listen to the real reason.
Genuine listening
- First, listen
with your eyes,
heart, and ears.
- Second, stand in
their shoes. (You must
try to see the world as
they see it and try to
feel as they feel.)
Third, practice
mirroring. (Mirroring
doesn’t judge, advice,
but it reflects.
Genuine listing in action
- First: you’ll gain a greater respect for them.
- Second: they’ll be much more willing to listen to you.
+ Communication with parents is jumps into their shoes and thinks about it from
their point of view.
REQUIRES COURAGE BY GIVING FEEDBACK.
Keep these two point in mind as you as you
feedback.
- First, ask yourself “will this feedback really help
this person or am I doing it just to suit myself and
fix them?”
- Second, send “I” messages instead of “you”.
Synergy is achieved when two or
more people work together to create a
better solution than either could alone. It’s
not your way or my way but a better way,
a higher way.
Alone we can do so little: together we can do so much.
BY HELEN KELLER
Synergy is Synergy is not
Celebrating differences Tolerating differences
Teamwork Working independently
Open-mindedness Thinking you’re always right
Finding new and better ways Compromise
To better understand what synergy is,
let’s see what synergy is not.
Synergy is everywhere in nature. It isn’t
anything new.
Example: If you’ve ever worked on a
group project that really came together or been
on a really fun group date, you’ve it.
CELEBRATING DIFFERENCES
Synergy doesn’t just happen. It’s a process.
There are there possible approaches you can take:
Level 1: Shun Diversity(Shunners are afraid of differences).
Level 2: Tolerate Diversity( Toleraters believe that everyone has the
right to be different.)
Level 3: Celebrate Diversity(Celebrators value differences.
We are all a minority of one
- We learn differently : As you’re probably noticed.
- We see differently : Everyone has a different paradigm, so they see
the world differently.
- We have differently : Style, traits, and characteristics.
Roadblocks to celebrating differences
- Ignorance : Ignorance means you’re clueless.
- Cliques : When your group of friends becomes so exclusive that
they begin to reject everyone who isn’t just like them.
- Prejudice : Prejudices held by so many.
Sticking up for diversity
Differences create the challenges in life that open the door to discovery.
By American Sign language symbol for WE ARE DIVERSE.
Once you’re bought into the idea that differences are a strength and
not a weakness one, but you’re ready to find THE HIGH WAY.
 Compromise is 1+1=1/2
 Cooperation is 1+1=2
 Synergy is 1+1=3
Action plan
Define the Problems or Opportunity: Make a bad one into a good one.
Their way : Seek first to understand the ideas of others.
My way : Seek to be understood by sharing ideas.
Brainstorm : Create new option and ideas.
High way : Find the best solution.
TEAMWORK AND SYNERGY
Great term are usually made up of five or more different types of people, with
each member playing a different but important role.
1. Plodders : Sure
and steady, they
stick to a job until
it’s done.
2. Followers : They
are very supportive of
leaders. If they hear a
great idea, they can
run with it.
3.Innovators :
They are the creative,
idea people. They offer
the sparks.
TEAMWORK AND SYNERGY CONTINUE…
4. Harmonizers :
They are provide unity
and support and are
great synergizers as
they work with others
and encourage
cooperation
5. Show-offs : Fun to
work with, they can be
tough at times. They
often add the spice and
momentum needed to
bring the team over all
success
Sharpen the Saw: is all about
keeping your personal self sharp so
that you can better deal with life. It
means regularly renewing and
strengthening the four key
dimensions of your life( Body,
Brain, heart, and soul) by
balancing and taking time for time-
out.
Caring for your
brain: developing your
brain power through your
schooling, extracurricular
activities, hobbies, jobs, and
others mind-enlarging
experiences.
Caring for your
body: the four key
ingredients to a healthy
body are good sleeping,
physical relaxation, good
nutrition, and proper
exercise.
-RBA: relationship
back account (keep
promises, be loyal,
listen, say you’re
sorry….)
Caring for your heart: Build relationships (RBA or PBA), give service, laugh.
PBA: personal bank account
( keep promises to yourself, be
gentle with yourself, be honest,
renew yourself, tap into your
talents)
Caring for your soul: Means that taking time to renew and awaken inner by
meditate, keep a journal, take in quality media.
