Team Effectiveness
Overall the teamwasveryeffectiveinmeetingitsobjectives, notjustthe original taskof makinga
profitbutalsoin termsof meetingthe stretchgoalsandadditional objectivesthatwe setoutin the
beginning, thiswasabigsuccessfor usand the team hadminimal conflicts, all operationswithinthe
teamwere completedswiftlywithnotime wastingandminimalquestionsasked.
The Evidence
Documents
The requireddocumentswere completedswiftlyandatcommercial standard, because we had
plannedahead onwhowas goingtodo what parts we were able toworkon thingsat our ownpace,
we actuallyhadtoo many memberswhichmade the event planningfasterthanwe thoughthowever
we usedthisto our advantage byexpandingintonew documentsthatwouldmake the eventbetter.
The fact we were able tocomplete documentswasagood thingbutthe issue here wasthatwe
shouldhave firstof all identifiedthe strengthsinthe team, whatwe foundaftersettingoutthe tasks
was thatsome people hadstrengthsthatwere betterapplicable toothertaskssuchas the poster
designcouldhave beendone bythe teammemberwhohada goodgrade inart. The nexttime we
do this,we shouldidentifythe strengthsof the teamsothat we can improve the workstandard. The
otherissue we hadwas that we completedthe worktoofast, althoughwe were able toimprovise,
thiswas outof our ownpresentmomentjudgement, the extradocumentswouldhave beenmore
effectiveif theywere planned, forexampleif the leaderwastoallocate themonlyasextrasfor
those whomay have completedtheirtasks, thiswouldalsohave made itbettertoidentifywhatthe
extradocumentsshouldbe.
Sales
Overall the saleswere verysuccessful,we actuallyhadso many salesthatit became a struggle;this
was one of our downfallsasthe tuckshoparea was verysmall andit wasfairlydifficulttoserve
everyone atonce althoughthe salesoverall made aheftyprofit.Onthe firstnightwe made over
£100 profitinsalesandthiswas the lowestattendingnights, overall of the nightswe managedto
take in almost£750 whichafterthe costsof the eventsetupandthe tuck shopstock deducted
resultedinusmakinga profitof £500 whichwasone of our stretchgoals.
Afterfindingthe sale areawastoosmall what we shouldhave done wasincrease the size of the tuck
shoparea but we didn’thave anyroomto actuallydo thiswhichwassomethingwe hadn’tplanned
for,we shouldhave expectedthisbutwe didn’tandthatwasa downfall.Nexttimewe willplanfor
the area to be somewhere whereitisactuallypossible toincrease the areaof operationsasat the
time we couldn’tmove the tuckshopbecause everywhere else wasbeingused.Whatwe should
have done wastallyup the saleseachnightand thenpurchase extraproductsforthose runninglow
but at thispointwe had alreadyusedthe tuckshopbudget, whatwe shouldhave done wasuse half
of the budgetthe firstdayand thenspreadthe restout for restocking, thiswouldhave beenamore
effectivewaytomake sure that the most popularitemsdidnotgoout of stock.

Team feedback
The team feltthe eventwentreallywellhoweverwe all hadconcernsduringthe eventthatwe
neededabiggertuckshoparea, a downfall wasthatthe teamstruggledtosell swiftlydue tothe
noise levelsatthe event, the areawasverysmall whichwasa downfall butitat the leastprovided
one advantage whichwasthat no one wouldbe able tosteal anythingsince youcouldsee all the
itemsinplainsight.
The fact that we heldthe tuck shoparea inthe hall wasa downfall asthe soundechoed, whatwe
shouldhave done isheldthe tuckshoppossiblyinaplace withlessecho,if we hadheldthe event
earlierwe couldhave usedone of the side exitsandheldthe tuckshopeventoutside, notonly
wouldthishadgave us more room but itwouldhave alsoreducedthe noise, howeveranissue of
thiswouldbe that itcouldrain so we wouldalsoneedacoverof sorts.
Customer feedback
The customerswere reallypleasedwiththe eventitself, whenwe askedthemfirstof all we useda
questionnaire,only20%of people repliedbutoverall the eventwasratedan8, people feltascore of
7 wasappropriate forprice fairnessandvarietyof productshada 9. The lowestratedwasavailability
of itemsata 5, thiswas due to usnot expectingsome of the itemstosell sowell suchasbottled
waterand we wentoutof stock onthese duringthe thirdday. The advantage of thishowever is
beingable toknow what’s popularfornexttime.We alsointerviewedaround20 people andthe
majorityof themprovidedsome reallygoodfeedbackonthe event,theirmaincriticismswere the
noise levelsandthe factthe area of operationswasn’tlarge enough, atthe leastwe know we can
improve onthisfornexttime, whenaskedhow effective the eventwasthe customersgave us
detailedfeedbackwhichwasinfavourof the eventbeingsuccessful,whenwe askedthisonthe
questionnaire we hadanaverage of 8 with 60% of people ratingthe event9or 10.
What we shouldhave done wasgive outquestionnairesbefore the eventtofindoutwhatproducts
specificallypeople wantedtohave available, whenwe originallypurchasedthe itemswe didso
basedon ourown judgementwhichworkedbutitwasn’tthe mosteffective way.We couldhave
alsoprovidedanincentive forpeople tofill outthe questionnairessuchasa prize or mentionfor
somethingbutwe didn’tdothisbecause itcouldleadtopeople randomlyansweringincorrect
resultsjusttoenter.We shouldhave improvedthe itemavailabilitybyallocatingabudgettoeach
nightratherthan spendingitall at once and hopingthe itemswouldsustainthe supply/demandfor
each night.Thiswouldhave beenamore effective wayalthoughitmayhave alsocostmore,if we
foundoutwhat people wantedpriortothe eventthenwe couldhave possiblystill purchasedall the
itemsat once since we wouldhave agood ideaonwhat the demandwouldbe.
