3. The expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Familia is a
church initiated on 19th March 1882 by the architect
Francisco de Paula de el Villar (1828-1901).
At the end of 1883, was commissioned to Gaudí the
continuation of works, work which did not abandon
until his death in 1926.
From the beginning is being built from donations. In
this sense, Gaudí said himself : “the temple expiatory
Temple of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people
and is reflected in it. It is a work that could end
during the first third of the 21st century”.
