Starbucks
Starbucks will close 8,000 stores nationwide this afternoon to give its 175,000 employees anti-bias training. This follows the arrest of two black men at a Starbucks last month, after they asked to use the restroom without having made a purchase.
Sanctions
The White House is waiting to announce new sanctions against North Korea while the two nations try to agree on a meeting. President Trump announced last week that his talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were off but later said the two sides may reschedule.
Tariffs
U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross will meet with European officials to talk metal tariffs exemptions. The waivers are only being granted to countries who agree to restrict the volume of their steel and aluminum exports.
Quote
“If there’s no big event like what happened at Starbucks, companies may not realize it’s happening within their own company.” Tami Kim, University of Virginia Darden School of Business
