UNIT G321 EVALUATIONLOUIS HALE
WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR MY MEDIA PRODUCT?
The target audience for my magazine would be people ranging from the age of 17-25, teenagers to young
adults. The target audience can be described as YAKS (Young Adventurous Free & Single), these people
have no heavy financial burdens and either lives with their parents or rents for cheap.
The gender target audience for my magazine would be mainly males. Stereotypically the colours in my
magazine that I have used, I mainly more “masculine” colours (black, red and white). Although, of course,
females can read the magazine too.
Because the target audience of my magazine are quite young, the social class for the audience would be
lower class. This is because most of the readers for my magazine will be students who either have a very
low income level, or no income at all.
There is no set ethnicity for the target audience. All ethnicities, races and religions will be able to read my
magazine.
HOW DID I ATTRACT / ADDRESS MY AUDIENCE?
The main in which I attracted my audience was with the front cover. This is
the first thing the reader will see and it is crucial to catch their eye, this is the
main thing to attract the reader.
I did this by using a large image of my model on the front, edited to it
would contrast against the rest of the magazine cover. My model was in black
and white, where as the rest of the cover (the strapline, cover stories etc.)
were in red or white. This made the image stand and attract the eye of the
reader. I used a close up, headshot of the model which shows that he is the
main focus on the cover. The model conformed with the stereotypes of my
genre (Hip-Hop / Rap) because I edited the image so that they had a tattoo
on their neck and the clothing he was wearing was the style of my genre.
This would help attract the reader because before even looking through the
magazine they can see the genre it is about. I made the strapline a lot bigger
than all of the other text on the screen, this made it stand out and the reader
could see it first, before everything tea.
