  2. •SIGN & SYMPTOM: RESPIRATORY DIFFICULTY IN RESPIRATION SHORTNESS OF BREATH BREATHING DIFFICULTIES  FEVER  COUGH
  3. What are the possible methods of protection from the New Corona Virus ?
  4.  ONLY PALLIATIVE TREATMENT.  NO PREVENTIVE VACCINE TILL NOW.  ONLY MANAGEMENT BY  PREVENTION  PRECAUTION  PROTECTION  DEVELOP IMMUNITY
  5. PREVENTION • Virus spreads through People to People • Avoid shaking hands • Wash clothes daily (2hrs in sunlight) • Avoid frozen foods • Avoid processed foods • No Ice-creams & Chilled Beverages • Avoid social gathering • Avoid travelling to crowded place.
  6. Protective Measures: • Self Awareness • Stay away from infected people • Wash your hands frequently • Maintain distance1mtr or 3feets from affected persons • Avoid touching Eyes, Nose & Mouth • Use Mask to cover face while going out • Practice respiratory hygiene • If having cough, fever & difficulty in breathing seek immediate medical care. • Drink warm water 1 to 2 sip in every 10 to 15mins.
  7.  CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19): (+)SSRNA Virus  LARGE FAMILY OF VIRUSES CAUSING ILLNESS FROM COMMON COLD TO MORE SEVERE DISEASES AS –  MERS – MIDDLE EAST RESPIRATORY SYNDROME  SARS – SEVERE ACUTE RESPIRATORY SYNDROME  SOURCE:- ZOONOTIC – ANIMAL & PEOPLE (CAMEL, SNAKE & BAT)  SIZE:- 400-500 MICRON  DETECTION:- WUHAN CITY WET MARKET CHINA 31.12.2019
  8.  WHO DATA: • Detected cases in 215 Countries (99,12,223 Case) • 213 Countries & 2 International Conveyances. • People affected: 58,59,567 (Closed Cases) • Death: 4,97,067 • Recovered: 53,62,500 • Active cases: 40,52,656 (Mild – 39,95,036; Severe /Critical – 57,620)  Who can be Next? • Weakened immune system • People having Cardio-Pulmonary Diseases • Infants (Child below 2yrs) • Older Adults.
  9.  IN INDIA: • Case load rises from Apr 2020 onwards • People affected: 5,09,737 (137,98,26,344) • Death: 15,700 • Recovered: 2,96,028 • Lock Down 4.O Continue • “CoViD-19 is a new disease & we are still learning about how it spreads.” US Centres for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). • WHO Emergency Expert Dr Mike Ryan “CoViD-19 could become another endemic like HIV in our communities & this virus may never go away. I think it is important we are realistic & I don’t think anyone can predict when this disease will disappear. I think there are no promises in this & there are no dates. This disease may settle into a long problem, or it may not be.”
  10.  In General, respiratory virus infection can occur through;  Contact (Direct/Indirect)  Droplet (in short range transmission)  Aerosol (in long range transmission - airborne)  The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person  Between people who are in close contact with one another (with in about 6 feet)  Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.  Large droplets of virus-laden mucus are the primary mode of transmission. Maintaining good social distance about 6 feet is very important in preventing the spread of CoViD-19. Some expert think that 6feet (1.8metres) is not enough.  It is assumed by scientists that temperature & humidity modulate the viability of viruses by affecting the properties of viral surface proteins & lipid membrane. Relative Humidity affects all infectious droplets with respiratory viruses, independent of their source (respiratory tract or aerosolized from any fluid) & location (in air or settled on surfaces).
  11.  It affects all transmission ways but has the most pronounced effect on airborne transmission.  Experiments conducted in a study indicated: “A striking correlation of the stability of winter viruses at low RH (20- 50%), while the stability of summer or all year viruses enhanced at higher RH (80%). It will be Best if remains in between 50% & 80%.  The WHO defines airborne transmission as “the spread of an infectious agent caused by the dissemination of droplet nuclei that remain infectious when suspend in air over long distance & time.”  WHO states that respiratory infection can be transmitted through droplets of different sizes. CoViD19 virus is primarily transmitted between people through respiratory droplets & contact routes.  Larger Respiratory Droplet: (>5-10µm in diameter)  Aerosolized Droplet: (<5µm in diameter)
  12.  Large Droplets remain in the air for only a short time & travel only short distances <1metre or 3.3feet. Virus-laden small droplets can remain in the air & travel long distance >1metre or more than 3.3feet.  Study of transmission occurring by experts that strong airflow from the air conditioner could have propagated droplets & the aerosolized droplets remain in the air 20min in non-ventilated cubicle space like OPD, Offices.  Virus can remain viable in aerosols upto 3hours (study published The New England Journal of Medicine, March 17). But not in normal condition according to WHO this was an experimentally induced aerosol-generating procedure (aerosol were generated using a three-jet collision nebulizer fed into a Goldberg drum under controlled lab condition).  The maximum transmission distance of SARS-CoV-2 aerosol might be 4m (13.1feet) (Study Published Emerging Infectious Disease, April10 a journal of the US CDC)
  13.  The study also found that SARS-CoV-2 was widely distribute in the air & on object surfaces in both the ICU & GW, implying a potentially high infection risk for Medical staff & other close contacts.  WHO says airborne transmission may be possible in specific circumstances & settings in which procedures or support treatments that generate aerosols are performed; i.e. EI, CPR manual ventilation before intubation, administration nebulise treatment, Bronchoscope, Tracheostomy, Open suction, NIPPV, Turning the patient to the prone position, Disconnecting the patient from the ventilator  Computer mouse (75%), Trash cans (60%), Sickbed handrails (42.9%), Doorknobs (8.3%) - ICU & GW. Exercise & Medical Equipments (PO, NC, SpM), PC & iPads, Reading Glasses (81.3%). Cellular phones (83.3%), Remote controls (64.7%), Toilets (81%), Room surfaces (80.4%), Bedside Tables & Bed rails (75%), window ledges (81.8%), Plastic upto 2-3days, Steel upto 2-3 days, Cardboard upto1day, Copper upto 4hrs
