POLICY
UN WOMEN: the United Nation institution engaged in Mali to support Women ICT
Entrepreneurship through a Project launched on mid June in Bamako.
AFRICA UNION: in Milan (Italy), 16 to 17 May 2016, the Second Stakeholder Forum of
the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) presented a call for action from participants
to ensure the delivery of sustainable energy for Africa post-COP21. The event focused
on the advancement of renewable energy innovation, investment
AFRICA UNION: Praia- Cape Verde, June 1-3, hosted a Stakeholder Dialogue
workshop for validating a Strategy and Action plan for African electricity markets at the
continental level elaborated through a joint AU-EU initiative.
AFRICA- USA: the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and its
partners hosted their first Agriculture Innovation Investment Summit from June 1- 2
in Washington, D.C. The Summit connected investors with innovators to accelerate
game-changing technologies that can help smallholder farmers improve their
productivity and competitiveness
AFRICA – USA: some of Africa’s most notable leaders in the private sector gathered
with Participants from the 2015 Mandela Washington Fellowship, the flagship program
of President Barack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), for the Southern
Africa Regional Conference at Johannesburg, South Africa from June 9-11, 2016.
AFRICA- GERMANY: May 27th
, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany
has pledged another EUR 55 Million in support of African Union (AU) programs and
joint strategic initiatives, concluding its bilateral negotiations with the African Union (AU)
Commission. The additional contribution mainly supports agricultural technical
vocational education and training (TVET) in more than 10 African countries

called for the adoption of policies and frameworks that expand access and create
greater demand for the Internet during the 4th annual Africa Internet Summit (AIS).
Urging policymakers to grasp the opportunity offered by the expansion and
growth of the Internet across the continent, the Internet Society advocate for greater
collaboration by all Internet decision-makers in creating an accessible, trusted Internet
that benefits all Africans. The African Internet Summit brought together the Information
and Communications Technology (ICT) business and technical community .
