• Karnataka is famous for variety of industries. There are many factors which
help Karnataka to attain variety of industries are climate, transport facility
,water supply and skilled lab.
• One of the important person sir M. Visveswarah had a great contribution for
establishing industries like rice mills, tile factories iron as well as brass
factories. In 1923 many industries were established like soap,cotton and silk
,paper,cement, paint, sugar etc.
• After independence the industrial policy of the central government
established further development like aeroplanes,machine tools, watches,
iron and steel etc

Iron and steel industry of Karnataka was established
by sir M.Viveswaraiah in 1923 at Bhadravathi in
shivamogga district in order to use the abundant ion
ore present there.
This industry was named as Mysuru iron and steel
industry ,in 1989 it was handed over to steel Authority
of Limited.
There was another iron and steel industry was which
was owned privately is jindal vijaynagar steel limited
in 2001 at Torangal in Ballari using the latest corex
technology.
