The Last Tenant

  1. 1. The Last Tenant [The scene opens in an apartment complex. A young woman, Rachel, is seen walking through the courtyard and approaching the building's front entrance.] Rachel: (to herself) I can't believe I'm actually moving out of this place. It's been my home for the past three years. [Rachel enters the building and approaches the apartment manager's office. She knocks on the door.] Apartment Manager: (from inside) Come in! [Rachel enters the office and approaches the manager, who is sitting at a desk.] Rachel: Hi, I'm Rachel. I'm here to turn in my keys and officially move out. Apartment Manager: (smiling) Hi Rachel, it's nice to meet you. I'm sorry to see you go. You've been such a great tenant. Rachel: (smiling) Thank you. I've really enjoyed living here.
  2. 2. Apartment Manager: (handing Rachel some paperwork) Here are the forms you need to fill out to officially turn in your keys and vacate the apartment. Rachel: (taking the paperwork) Okay, I'll fill these out and be on my way. Apartment Manager: (nodding) Sounds good. If you have any questions, just let me know. Rachel: (filling out the paperwork) Actually, I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about the last tenant who lived in my apartment. Apartment Manager: (pausing) The last tenant? That would have been Mr. Smith. He lived here for a few years before moving out about a year ago. Rachel: (interested) Oh, really? Do you know why he moved out? Apartment Manager: (shrugging) I'm not sure. He never really said much about it. I think he just decided to move on to a different apartment. Rachel: (nodding) Okay, thanks for the information.
  3. 3. Apartment Manager: (smiling) No problem. I'm glad you enjoyed living here, Rachel. Good luck in your new place. Rachel: (smiling) Thanks, I'll miss this place. Bye! [The scene ends with Rachel exiting the apartment manager's office and walking out of the building, carrying a box of her belongings.]
