1. SIRIA
Sentada en el autobús que me
lleva a Brockley,
siento deslizarse
el espanto
por las calles de Siria.
De nuevo
Saturno está devorando a sus hijos e hijas.
Los demás planetas callan
estrellas caen asesinadas.
Huele a azufre y sangre,
esto no ayudará
a nutrir
ni a fortificar la tierra.
Este año,
tampoco habrá cosechas.
¿Adónde va tanto sufrimiento?
‘A cebar las arcas
de algún rico gobierno’
Responden millones de voces
de entre las cenizas.

2. SYRIA
Sitting on the bus that takes me to Brockley,
I can feel the fright
slither down the streets of Syria.
Again,
Saturn is devouring his sons and daughters.
The other planets keep quiet,
whilst stars fall…murdered.
There is smell of sulphur and blood
this will not help
to nourish
or fortify the land,
this year
there will be no crops again.
Where does so much suffering go?
‘’To fatten the coffers
of some rich government’’
