• Do not overbuy things that we need. This
will reduce the extra amount of waste
needed to dispose, by burning them or
burying them, this will save land for the
landfill method and reduce carbon dioxide
emission for the incineration method.
• Don’t throw away things, consider reusing
it or give it to other people

4. • Recycling things that is recyclable like
cans, plastics and papers in the respective
recycling bins
• Reducing the use of car by travelling
together as a group when you and your
friends are going out together at the same
place. This can reduce air and noise
pollution because lesser cars are used
which burns lesser fossil fuels. Lesser cars
also made lesser noise

fuels being burnt in the power station.
• Dispose things properly. Do not throw it in
water bodies or on the land. This reduces
land and water pollution

• The government may implement laws to
control pollution.
• This is such as imposing fines for polluting
the environment, regulating noise etc.

• The government can seek for a better way
to dispose rubbish through the landfill and
the incineration method.
• For the landfill method, the government
can line protective layers and clay in the
landfill site. The clay is the least
permeable soil and can prevent toxics
from seeping into the ground and pollute
groundwater.

• The government can educate the public on
pollution in order to let them know about
this global problem. This will make them
start to contribute to reduce pollution by
the individual effort

• The government can hire companies to
carry out research and development to
make products that can dispose waste

• The government can use cleaner energy
instead of fossil fuels to reduce pollution
by fossil fuels

Effort

13. • Countries can sign international
agreement on how to reduce pollution
• In 1992, a conference, known as the Earth
Summit, was the largest conference
conducted by the United Nations in
Brazils. Many government participated in
the conference and are planning to reduce
pollution. The conference will take place
again in 2012.
