WATCH Update News and Information for WATCH Partners  March 2013 Research Study WATCH Participant Earns  Susquehanna Health The Administration for Children Employee Recognition  and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has contracted with Abt Daisy Ballowe, a WATCH participant and Associates, Inc. and the Urban employee of Susquehanna Health, received Institute to conduct a research the C.A.R.E. One hundred and twelve (112) participants Home Week completed healthcare vocational or occupational education (May 13 - 19, 2013)  programs. This number includes:   ********* 16 Registered Nurses 32 Licensed Practical Nurses Seven WATCH LPN 64 Certified Nurse Aides   Graduates Complete   CPI Program Although WATCH Project participants apply for financial aid and scholarships to help pay for their education, this aid is often not enough to cover all the costs of post-secondary education and training.   2. 2. WATCH Partner Update   The WATCH Project assisted 96 participants with exam fees and 68 participants with licensing and certification fees. Two hundred and two (202) individuals received assistance from the project to obtain uniforms for training and employment, as well as shoes, supplies and tools.   L to R: Amanda Hockenberry, In Year 2, 134 WATCH Project participants went to work after Jennifer Breon, Deann Smith, completing their education; over 12o of these individuals were Barbara Caruso, Cayla Dunlap, employed in the healthcare sector, including: David Goodman and Stefanie Brown   14 Registered Nurses Seven WATCH Project participants 23 Licensed Practical Nurses graduated from the LPN program 86 Certified Nurse Aides     at Central PA Institute of Science and Technology in December 2012.       WATCH Co-Sponsors EMT Class WATCH participants held four of   the six class officer positions in the An Emergency Medical Technician class, co- sponsored by 23-member graduating class. All Harrisburg Area Community College, the Northumberland County seven graduated with Academic Career and Technology Center (NCCTC) and the Central Honors or with High Academic Susquehanna Intermediate Unit WATCH Project, will be held at Honors. WATCH participant David the Northumberland County CTC from April 15 to July 25, 2013.  Goodman received the Excellence   in Acute Care Nursing Award.
