Going To Replace All of Us
• No single occupation
will be completely
unaffected by the
adoption of new
technology.
• Only 25% of jobs will be
significantly impacted.
• The future has already
arrived, it's just not
evenly distributed'.
Automation Will Hit The Lower Wage Jobs First
• The jobs most at risk are made up
largely of routine, predictable
physical and cognitive tasks.
• Think jobs like office
administration, simple production,
and food preparation.
• The danger of this of course is that
the people holding these jobs also
tend to be the least prepared to
make a job shift into roles that are
more complex, higher up the wage
scale, and less likely to be
impacted by technology.
AI Impact On Business - Key Statistics
• 8% of companies use AI - 62% expect to
do so by the end of this year.
• 96% believe AI can greatly enhance
talent acquisition and retentions.
• Companies who use AI/enhanced
technology show 18% higher revenue
and 30% greater profitability.
• Only 7% of recruiters think a robot could
do their job
AI/Automation Adoption Rates
• 47% - of this year’s respondents say that their
organizations are deeply involved in automation
projects.
• 24% are using some form of AI and robotics to
perform routine tasks
• 16% say they are using AI to augment human skills
• 7% are using AI to restructure work entirely.
Note: more than $6 billion has been pumped into
over 1,000 AI start-ups in the last three years, in
industries ranging from transportation to health care,
and across a range of specialties—including HR.

self-service soda fountains to help make
the decision to launch Cherry Sprite.
• Morgan Stanley equipped 16,000 financial
advisers with machine learning algorithms
that automate rote tasks, freeing up
advisers to focus on client service.
• In health care, AI and robotics are speeding
up patient service, improving medical
record-keeping, and monitoring
employee well-being.
• Overall, AI tools are projected to create
nearly $3 trillion in business value by 2021.

services are likely to be the first HR area in
which “robots”—or robotic process
automation (RPA)—will replace human labor.

be automated.

• Software can now recognize faces and identify
gender, listen to voices and identify mood, and decode
video interviews to identify education level, lying, and
cognitive ability.
• Analytics tools are intelligently selecting
candidates, identifying employees’ career options, and

skills.
• AI is even being used to create chatbots that can
interact with job candidates, identify and score video
interviews, and understand the sentiment of
engagement surveys.
• Every major human capital management cloud
provider is now implementing algorithms, making it
important for organizations to maintain accurate data
and carefully review these tools for accuracy and
potential bias.

How To Make HR Tech Work For You
• Consider the underlying data first. Every
software purchase decision involves
adding complexity to your HR data. It
may be the most valuable data you own.
Set up a function in HR that understands
all of the data.
• Your first steps in automation must
focus on hygiene factors. If you don’t
get payroll, benefits and time tracking
right, the rest won’t matter.
• Once Payroll and Benefits are operating
smoothly, you will then have to focus
on either Talent Acquisition (TA) or
Talent Management and Development
(TMD). If your growth is incremental and
regular, focus on TMD. If you are
growing quickly, focus on TA.

can then begin to look at where you
want to take employee development:

• New collar jobs are occupations
which focus more on a candidate’s
skills during the hiring process,
rather than his or her level of
education.
• New collar jobs do not necessarily
require a traditional four-year
college degree and are mostly
found in the information
technology (IT), manufacturing and
healthcare industries.

• Many of the new collar jobs that are
currently available are in industries that
involve data science, coding
and cloud administration.
• New collar workers are also increasingly
sought after in:
• healthcare, with vocational certifications available

• manufacturing industry, where low-skill jobs that
previously went to blue collar workers are now
automated by robots and heavy machinery. As

  • 4. Good News – Robots Are Not Going To Replace All of Us • No single occupation will be completely unaffected by the adoption of new technology. • Only 25% of jobs will be significantly impacted. • The future has already arrived, it's just not evenly distributed'.

Automation Will Hit The Lower Wage Jobs First • The jobs most at risk are made up largely of routine, predictable physical and cognitive tasks. • Think jobs like office administration, simple production, and food preparation. • The danger of this of course is that the people holding these jobs also tend to be the least prepared to make a job shift into roles that are more complex, higher up the wage scale, and less likely to be impacted by technology.

AI Examples With HR • Software can now recognize faces and identify gender, listen to voices and identify mood, and decode video interviews to identify education level, lying, and cognitive ability. • Analytics tools are intelligently selecting candidates, identifying employees’ career options, and coaching managers on improving their leadership skills. • AI is even being used to create chatbots that can interact with job candidates, identify and score video interviews, and understand the sentiment of engagement surveys. • Every major human capital management cloud provider is now implementing algorithms, making it important for organizations to maintain accurate data and carefully review these tools for accuracy and potential bias.   • 16. How To Make HR Tech Work For You • Consider the underlying data first. Every software purchase decision involves adding complexity to your HR data. It may be the most valuable data you own. Set up a function in HR that understands all of the data. • Your first steps in automation must focus on hygiene factors. If you don’t get payroll, benefits and time tracking right, the rest won’t matter. • Once Payroll and Benefits are operating smoothly, you will then have to focus on either Talent Acquisition (TA) or Talent Management and Development (TMD).
