THE UGLY TRUTH ABOUT
YOUR PRETTY CLOTHES
Your jeans emit more than 3 KG of
Carbon Dioxide
Your T-shirt wastes 700 Gallons of
water - that is 140 water cooler jugs
Most of your clothes are not
biodegradable, which means they sit in
landfills for at least 200 years
You take part in making Textiles one of
the poorest recycling rates of any
reusable material
You have about 20 unworn pieces sitting in
your closet right now that you refuse to throw,
regardless of your gender and sexuality
On average, Your family owns $7000 of
clothing, but 1/3 of that is never worn.
Australians waste $1.56 billion on clothes,
accessories and personal care items that are
never used
At the same time, You are buying 5 times as
much clothing as your parents did back in
their days

ORGANIZE CLOTHES SWAPS
EVENTS WITHIN LOCAL
COMMUNITIES
+ ACCEPT DONATION
01 CLOTHES SWAP IS A TYPE OF SWAP-
MEET WHEREIN PARTICIPANTS
EXCHANGE THEIR VALUED BUT NO
LONGER USED CLOTHING FOR CLOTHING
THEY WILL USE.
THE CLOTHES ACCUMULATED
WILL BE USED TO INITIATE
OTHER CLOTHES SWAPS IN
DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES
02 BUT THIS TIME, WITH A HIGHER RATION:
BRING IN ONE PIECE OF CLOTHING TO
SWAP WITH FIVE PIECES OF CLOTHING
OUR NEXT DESTINATION IS THE MARIANA COMMUNITY
IN PHILIPPINES WHO WERE AFFECTED BY THE RECENT TYPHOON
THIS PROCESS GOES ON AND ON,
TRAVELLING FROM DIFFERENT
COUNTRIES TO COUNTRIES.
BY THE END, THE CLOTHES WILL
COME BACK TO AUSTRALIA
THE RETURNED BUNDLE WILL BE
FULL OF COLORFUL CULTURES
COMING FROM ALL AROUND
THE WORLD

THE
CULTURAL EXCHANGE
CULTURAL EXCHANGE
NO:
Donating to "less privileged"/
"struggling" communities
C O M P A N Y . C O M
YES:
Genuine Exchange of cultures
The exchanging hands of clothes from one culture to another is a unique cultural
experience. A Samoan man taking a sari for his daughter in exchange of his lava lava,
which will get taken by a Malaysian girl is the epitome of authentic cultural
experiences. While donating is an act, GCSM is an experience.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
C O M P A N Y . C O M

Development aid primarily focuses on necessaries,
GCSM takes it further and cares about their well-being and quality of living
EMPOWERMENT
C O M P A N Y . C O M
A positive cycle of movement
from one community to another
People who are fighting hardships are
given the platform to help others
who are fighting on the other side of the world.
