What Went Well: Very good 1 v 1 defending which was taken into
game at the end which finished 0-0 – short interventions
Even Better If: Try to challenge individuals and group when they need
pushing and link sessions without losing tempo
WARM UP– 15mins
One player works as the first defender. The other players
must shield their ball from the defender. If the defender
knocks a ball from the cones then the shielding player
becomes the new defender. The game is continuous.
BALL MASTERY – 15mins
Players on the outside – Toe Taps, Sole Drags, Ball Dancing, Inside-Outside,
Shuffles from cone to cone – at cone execute a cut or turn
Players in the middle – Movement + Toe Taps, Sole Drags, Ball Dancing, Inside-
Outside, Shuffles – on coaches command execute cut or turn
If enough balls 1 each if not work in pairs with time limit for each player in
possession. Frequent changes, quick touches = QUICK TEMPO
PASSING PRACTICE – 15mins – set up two stations
Players perform a pre-action before receiving the ball “body open” and pass
around the diamond.
Work both directions
Concentrate on first touch forward
Try to control with one foot and pass with the other
1v1 PRACTICE 2 – 20mins
Two teams – two from each in the middle, others pass the balls into
the area for two to score – game stops when all balls have been
played.
