Question 7
 Looking over my coursework, I feel that I have learnt a vast
amount about different programmes and the creation of my
magazine. My preliminary task was what we did at the start of
our coursework to see how limited we were in our skills and
to see how we advanced in the progression of our
coursework.
 Before this course, I had little to no knowledge of anything
about the creation of magazines and even the softwares that
we were going to be using.
 From the creation of my preliminary cover to my real cover, I
learnt how to use the software's to maximum potential. This
allowed me to make my work a lot more aesthetically
pleasing. I was able to use a lot more graphics on my work
and learn how to make my work stand out a lot more.
 I also learnt about the sizing of different objects. This is
clearly visible in the transition from my preliminary to my real
coursework due to the size of my title being a lot larger along
with the names of bands standing out much more.
 I had learnt about what works well and what doesn’t on
magazines along with the forms and conventions of different
genres. This is present due to my colour scheme being a lot
more vibrant in the actual coursework in contrast to the dull
and boring preliminary task.
 The difference between my contents page on my preliminary
and my real task is massive. I have been able to learn about
the different ways a contents page is effective and how it is
less so.
 I have learnt about how to sophistically put together a feature
column. On the preliminary contents page, the features is far
too large and the arrows take up far too much room. On the
real coursework, it is a lot cleaner and has a much more
realistic feel to it.
 I have used far better graphics and images in my new
coursework due to me learning how to use the different types
of software.
 Throughout the duration of creating my music magazine, I
have learnt how to use some very important software's to
their maximum potentials.
 I used InDesign to help me position the text perfectly and
efficiently, which I did not know of before.
 I have used Photoshop prior to this coursework very briefly
but my knowledge of the software was less than basic. I
learnt how to create incredible graphics, colours and position
all of my images correctly. I was enabled to cut out the
unwanted backgrounds from my images.
 This allowed me to make my work much more elaborate and
get rid of the boring feel from the preliminary task
◦ My photos from my preliminary task are very basic and have no
theme to them what so ever. They were simply people pulled out of
the common room and taken a photo of.
◦ The photo shoot for my actual magazine however was much more
sophisticated and actually had a genre theme to it.
◦ Instead of using my phone to take pictures, I used a digital SLR. The
photos were taken in an actual photo booth which allowed me to
control all of the lighting and other mechanisms to make my photos
stand out as much as possible. This in turn made my photoshoot
much more professional
◦ My photos were no longer thrown together and I actually made sure
to use specific clothing and props to suit my rock genre.
