  2. 2.  It is an art by applying colors to a surface to present an object imagined or real. Painting  Basic materials of painting are paint, canvass, wood, paper and brush.

  4. 4. a. Water Color  It is a combination of coloring materials & water.
  5. 5. b. Oil  It is a glossy product that slowly dries to give the painter a chance to do some corrections of his art.
  6. 6. c. Tempera  Its mineral coloring is a mixture of egg yolks and ore.
  7. 7. d. Pastel  It is a stick paste made of powdered pigment.
  8. 8. e. Fresco  It is taken from the word fresh, the art of painting on fresh plaster.
  9. 9.  It is a paint which adhesive element is acrylic resin. f. Acrylic
  10. 10. Art Elements of a Painting
  11. 11. Distance  Foreground – the part of the painting closest to the viewer Middle ground – the part between the foreground & the part Background – the farthest
  12. 12. Color  Artists use colors to convey feelings & moods w/in their painting.
  13. 13. Light  Painters simulating natural light or using hidden spotlights to let you focus your attention on what they want you to notice in the painting.  It affects the color of the subject & objects in the painting to let it look real & solid if the artist shows the way light falls on them.
  14. 14.  Line  Artists use various types of lines to express ideas & feelings in their paintings.
  15. 15. Shapes  Artist uses it to express ideas.
  16. 16. Composition  Artist seriously plan how they will arrange elements like color, line & shape in their paintings.
  17. 17.  Perspective  To give the effect of distance, the artist may make the objects in the background smaller in size, lighter in color or less detailed.
  18. 18. Symbols  It can be defined as something, which has a special meaning or a special message.
  19. 19. Styles in Paintings
  20. 20. 1. Abstract  A painting is called abstract when the painter does not show the subject as it appears in reality.
  21. 21. a. Distortion This is a kind of abstract which natural form or condition is twisted or distorted.
  22. 22. b. Elongation  The character or the object being painted is elongated or
  23. 23. c. Cubism Abstractionism that stressed through the use of some geometrical shapes such as cylindrical, triangular, spherical & other forms at the expense of the other pictorial elements.
  24. 24. d. Mangling  The object is presented as cut lacerated, mutilated or hacked.
  25. 25. 2. Expressionism Artist has a freedom to consider his personal style in presenting his subject or expressing his thought or feeling.
  26. 26. a. Symbolism  It is a thing or single that stands for another thing.
  27. 27. b. Fauvism  It is a kind of style or movement in painting that is characterized by a thick pigment.
  28. 28. c. Dadaism  It is a protest movement against the traditional outworn arts & evils in society.
  29. 29. d. Surrealism  A style in presenting art by fantastic or incongruous imagery produced by unnatural combinations.
  30. 30. e. Futurism  It picture out something in the future.
