1. Cutting Section
Once dying operation is done, the fabrics are ready for cutting. But before starting cutting
operation, some precautions are taken. For example, relaxation is a very important pre-required
activity before cutting. As fabrics have just gone through dying, it can be subjected to further
deformation after cutting. To avoid this, relaxation is mandatory. The steps are discussed below
1 ) Relaxation : Keeping the febric in rest before starting cutting operation to prevent deformation
that can lead to defects.
2 ) Laying off : It means laying off fabrics on top of each other. While laying off one should
remember that total width of the laid off fabrics should be equal to or less than the cutter thickness.
It provides enough clearance for the operator to continue cutting. However this lay off is performed
manually.
3 )Marking the patterns: Paper patterns or templates of each garment piece are placed on top of
the fabric layers. These patterns indicate the shape, size, and position of each fabric piece. The
patterns are aligned and secured to the fabric using pins or weights.
4 ) Cutting: Using cutting tools such as scissors, electric knives, or computerized cutting
machines, the fabric pieces are cut along the outlines of the patterns. Care is taken to follow the
marked lines accurately and to avoid any mistakes or fabric damage. Depending on the cutting
method, the cutting may be done manually or using automated machinery. Here we are performing
manual cutting by electrical knives.
