2. What is Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer
science that emphasizes the creation of
intelligent machines that work and react like
humans.
Some of the activities computers with artificial
intelligence are designed for include:
1. Speech recognition
2. Learning
3. Planning
4. Problem solving
3. Introduction
Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer
science that aims to create intelligent machines.
It has become an essential part of the
technology industry.
Research associated with artificial intelligence is
highly technical and specialized.
The core problems of artificial intelligence
include programming computers for certain traits
such as:
• Knowledge
• Reasoning
4. • Perception
• Learning
• Planning
• Ability to manipulate and move objects
Knowledge engineering is a core part of AI research.
5. History
AI was coined by John McCarthy, an American
computer scientist, in 1956 at The Dartmouth
Conference where the discipline was born.
It has gained prominence recently due, in part, to big
data, or the increase in speed, size and variety of data
businesses are now collecting.
AI can perform tasks such as identifying patterns in the
data more efficiently than humans, enabling
businesses to gain more insight out of their data.
6. Types of Artificial Intelligence
AI can be categorized in any number of ways, but here
are two examples.
The first classifies AI systems as either weak AI or
strong AI.
Weak AI, also known as narrow AI, is an AI system that
is designed and trained for a particular task. E.g.:-
virtual assistant like Apple’s siri etc.
Strong AI, also known as artificial general intelligence.
7. Examples of Artificial Intelligence
Automation is the process of making a system or
process function automatically. Robotic process
automation, for example, can be programmed to
perform high-volume.
Robotics is a field of engineering focused on the
design and manufacturing of robots. Robots are often
used to perform tasks that are difficult for humans to
perform or perform consistently.
Pattern recognition is a branch of machine learning
that focuses on identifying patterns in data.
9. Advantages of Artificial Intelligence
Error Reduction.
Difficult Exploration.
Daily Application.
Digital Assistants.
Increase Work Efficiency.
Reduce cost of training and operation.
10. Risks of Artificial Intelligence
The AI is programmed to do something devastating.
The AI is programmed to do something beneficial, but it
develops a destructive method for achieving its goals.
High cost
“Stephen Hawking warns that rise of robots may be
disastrous for mankind.”
11. Future scope of AI
Machines learn from experience and build
associations, help develop new technology.
Smarter gets redefined with the advances in sensor,
cloud and machine learning technology, and pushes
the boundary of smarter homes, cars, infrastructure
and just about everything.
Deep learning approaches allow processing of raw
data including images, speech and natural language.
Intelligent automation combines automation with
artificial intelligence.
