Dear students, we are living in the era of Globalisation. It has provided us new opportunities
but it has threats also. Gone are the days when we used to compete at the national level but
now we have to compete at global level. Therefore, the level of competition has increased. It is
therefore, very important that we have to excel in our respective field; have to be equipped
with relevant skills, knowledge, attitudes and values. I am very happy to say that various
societies, cells and associations are working very effectively and are facilitating various co-
curricular and extra-curricular activities. They are helpful in inculcating creative and critical
thinking, social and moral values and compassion for nature and environment. They also help
the students to be good human beings and leaders. I am sure that they will help you to develop
yourself into a versatile personality.
I firmly believe that self-management is a must to achieve your goals and objectives. Anyone
who can manage herself/himself can manage anything else very easily. Self-management
includesself-discipline,fixingyour goalsandobjective,decidingthecourse ofactionto achieve
them, time management and stress management. They will ensure success in all your
endeavours. Self-management and hard work is the key to success. Be regular in your classes

By Vibhor Vaid
B.A. (Hons.) English
To my 18-yr old lover,
I know. I am the reason for your sleepless nights. I
am the only reason why your poems are
immaculate? So, does your family know that you are
busy all night savouring me? And do they know that
we meet clandestinely? Shhhhh... Dare not tell
anyone about our secret dates at Starbucks, Costa
and Dunkin. There is something magical when your
lips caress mine. When I latently touch your skin, I
hope I am able to break your ice? To be honest, I am
tired listening to your late-night vents and rants. No
wonder why girls of your age don't want to date
you. You stare at me like a boring pumpkin. You are
such a mood hoover. Sorry for being so harsh, but
don't you worry, all your darkand gruesome secrets
are safe with me. Trust me, however depressing
your life might get, I'll be there for you. Just one
complaint, why do you remember me when you are
exhausted, stressed out or worried during your
exams? I feel so isolated at times, succumbing in
those jars. Huh. Hey! What about that cute girl you
had told me about, last week? I hope she hasn't
friend-zonedyou yet. (Haha) On a serious note, why
don't you make us meet at Starbucks someday?
Trust me, I'll be the perfect wing-lady for you. My
incense would whisper all those things you have
been hiding from so long. Okay, I am absolutely
knackered now, plus it's getting too late. 2 a.m.
already! When are your plans to sleep, laggard?
Bye, go have a sound sleep. Good night. Sorry,
Morning! No, night. Okay! I don't know. Perplexed
like you.
Sincerely,
Your brewed coffee.
(P.S.- Can you stop making me jealous by hanging
out with my counterpart at Chaayos? Also, become
strong just like me.)
Remember! We both left home at 18
We both left home at 18,
You cleared JEE,
I got recommended.
You got IIT,
I got NDA.
You pursued your degree,
I had the toughest training.
Your day started at 7 and ended at 5,
Mine started at 4 till 9 and
Some nights also included.
You had your convocation ceremony,
I had my P.O.P. [Passing out Parade]
Best company took you and
Best package was awarded.
I was ordered to join my paltan
With two stars piped on my shoulders.
Those 2 stars were worth then,
Billions in the sky.
You got a job.
I got a way of life.
Every eve, you got to see your family,
I just wished I get to see my parents soon.
You celebrated festivals with light and music
I celebrated with my comrades in Bunkers,
Hearing the muzzle of bullets…
We both got married,
Your wife got to see you every day,
My wife just wished I were alive.
You were sent to business trips,
I was sent to line of control.
We both returned.
Both wives couldn’t control their tears,
You wiped hers, but
I couldn’t.
You hugged her, but
I couldn’t.
Because I was lying in the coffin,
With medals on my chest and,
Coffin wrapped with tricolour.
My way of life ended at 22,
Your continued……
But my friend….,
Remember! We both left home at 18…

Mumma,
Whereare you? I search for you.. l ook at thesky,my
soul connects with yours, wonder why.
For me stars in the sky were just as normal as any
other guy, now they are a medium to connect with
you just like a wifi.
Tears frommyswolleneyes fall down;to wipethem,
I look for the lady with the crown.
You pushed me always and helped me anyhow, this
poor kid is realizing its value now.
Talking to your pictures gives me a little relief, I
know you listen to me, that's my belief.
Hope wherever you are, you are smiling, just like
your picture on the drawing room wall hanging.
Words spoken from your mouth were a treat to my
ears, which also helped me to overcome my fears.
After you died I held you close to my heart, I knew it
would be the last time because we were about to
part.
Over and over I thought "How can I live without
you?"
I watched you live, I watched you die
Every day I look up at the sky
I know you're waiting for me, I know you’re waiting
for me!

WANDERER
Hello World!
This post is straight from my heart. A piece of my
heart.
Wanderers, poets, philosophers have always
caught my attention the most through their larger
than life attitude towards life and their magical
words. Their free spirited and unconventional way
of life have always inspired me and made me fall in
love with them and their works.
I have tried to compose apoem. I thinkit's beautiful.
The inspiration behind this poetry is 13th century
Persian poet and philosopher #Rumi.
So, here it goes.
Wanderer, mad with joy, what are you searching
for,
Wanderer, mad with love, what are you seeking for.
You roam the streets, end to end,
You laugh, you cry,
You urge every passerby,
Hiding the hurt in your smile
that you belong to all the world
Yet no one is yours to hold.
Wanderer, mad with joy, what are you searching
for,
Wanderer, mad with love, what are you seeking for!
You heal every wound,
Without touching every people around
You have a charm in your mind,
Very rare are able to find.
Hey wanderer, listen,
You are not a drop in the ocean,
But an entire ocean in a drop.
You are infinite love in oneself,
Wish we could find in ourselves.
Wanderer, you don't need to search anything for,
Look... Look... Look inside yourself,
The whole treasure is inside you,
Which the whole universe is seeking for!

21. Trapped in the Grey
Staring at the void ceiling, lying in the cold,
I push my thoughts away as I feel the biting mould.
Here I am, I'm trapped in the grey;
The grey metallic bars, the tinted grey gate.
Powerless, I'm looking for light,
Where is the black, and where is the white?
"Save me", I'm yelping out loud,
I'm waiting for someone; someone to rupture this
grey cloud.
"I'm stuck", do you hear me?
I am stuck in the grey,
Lifeless and numb, yet so much to say.
Get me out of this cage, I need to see the stars,
See the grey skies and not the grey bars.
"I'm lost", can you see me?
I'm lost in the grey transition,
Trying to find myself, I'm distracted by a
commotion.
My thoughts are muddling the grey,
I see,
"Smile, or the world will see the true me"
- Bhawna Agarwal
The Reality
The scenes come closer, as the sight goes far ;
The scrumptious faces, tend to have ugly scars..
The feet loose strength, can't move any more ;
Tho' verdicts move in deep, very deep up to core..
The truth's kept hidden, beneath a fine dusky skin ;
That pellucid pall itself pores, stories of era of sin..
The time stands still, seeing truths miles away ;
While, men search'em, at a place that's phony..
Future wanna come today, but past never leaves ;
In clutter of these two, men spoil present's peace..
The ego, within one, is a long lasting wizard ;
Once, it got settled, settle all ugly scars..!!!

Stop Killing Time. It’s Your Precious Gift
to Yourself
I have a bucket of money,
Which I have to spend before the day end and i left
with no penny
Who would I spend it wisely
Or get broke precisely
Sure I will spend it with a crown
Or I will see myself with a big frown
So why not I spendmy bucket full time with concern
Rather I spend it with a potato which is not even
firm
We all got 24 hours so why to waste
Put all your effort to make it great
Be hungry be foolish,

Journey
Starting a new journey of Self-Discovery,
For a little change that I need.
Hoping to find some recovery,
And some ambitions for myself to feed.
With some people that stayed
Left some who strayed
With no idea if I will be alone in the end,
But sure that I’ll not let myself bend.
Starting a new journey of Self-Discovery,

23. ENTREPRENEUR
ENTREPRENEUR NUTURES,
ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRANSFORMS IT,
ENTREPRENEUR FINANCES,
ENTREPRENEURSHIP TURNS INTO PROFIT.
Many countries all over the world gives thousands
of descriptions about entrepreneur. An
entrepreneur is a one who comes out with different
combinations of a new product, new market, new
sources of raw materials, and a whole new
customer market which will lead to whole new
industry that initiates the upliftment of economic
development and provide new platform for the
unemployed part of the society.
An entrepreneur establishes a management which
should be full of new innovation, risk bearing
capability and new innovative ideas, it takes a
period sometimes maybe a long period of time to
turn out into an organisation, this organisation
further results out in urge, skill, vision and growth.
What a business man admires? profit? YES, if the
stats turn out to be more of income and less of
expenditure then the firm is said to be in profit that
is it is grooming and booming in its sector.
After the emergence of “Modi Raaj”, there is a lot of
upliftment given to this sector, there are many
youngsters, people, businessman who have started
working upon their start-ups or there are many
ideas in the young minds. After the boost of MSME,
government have taken many initiatives and given
many opportunities to such people.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS THE CORNERSTONE OF
THE EMERGING ECONOMIC SCENE IN THE
WORLD.

SEVEN SIGNS OF ENTREPRENEUR
There must be an entrepreneurial fire in your belly
to start a new business and make it to the one of the
best in its field and mind me not everyone is that
lucky to have it. So how anyone should come to
know about how to plan that it comes out to be one
of the best? So, these are the seven signs which lead
to be the best, but is it important to have all in one?
NO, but it would probably wouldn’t hurt to have all
these seven to be a good competitor in the market.
-People who turns out to do a successful
businessman are often the one who always have a
parent hand on their head means those parents
have already earned, experienced and build up an
empire on their own. People who strike out on their
own often have a direct example of a parent to look
to.
- You are a lousy person, need not to sugar coat on
this one. Out of all the entrepreneur 75% of the
businessman tend to start their own business
because either they quit more then one job or you
have been fired. The only stuff you need to keep in
your mind is that the only person who can
effectivelyandefficientlymanage andmotivate you
is YOURSELF.
- How many definitions you must have gone
through Observing “JOB SECURITY”, in this rapidly
changing economy, jobsecurity canbe frighteningly
fleeting. just paraphrasing it “ITS WAY BETTER TO
HAVE 100 IDIOTS CLIENTS THAN TO HAVE ONE
IDIOT BOSS”.
- IN case you start with a new business, and with all
those positive and accepting market demand it
comes out to be successful.so when you get to the
top you stop and it start like “WHAT NEXT”, so this
brings you down to middle instead of at the top.
Fear of stagnation can be a powerful motivator,
especially if you have an idea for something that
couldbe atleast bemoreinteresting andpotentially
lucrative.
-Very very important is to do the market study,
please do not tell me you are ready with all the set
up without the market study it will eventually bring
you to the first step planning and so your planning
fails eventually all your steps of management.
-Support is like a backbone, you need motivation
andthebestmotivationcomesfrom yourfamilyand
spouse. Trying to do it without the support of them
will be unbearable.
-Yes, all in above believe in you and your beautiful
idea because if you do not love your own idea then
trust me no one. Just be strong about your ideas
because leaving you no one else knows about the
beauty you project have. -

Our Story
Many came and went away,
As the time walked through the way, I fell under
your sway.
You appeared like a star, probably the brightest by
far which knocked my silly heart in a beautiful art!
Unbreakable toy as I was and you my grown-up kid,
Pampering you every rime was what I did!
A wave of happiness you were,
And also, my sweetest whisperer!
Every time I looked at you, your face blazed,
And yet again I failed to avert my gaze!
As we walked together, I savoured your smile so
sweet,
When my heart started beating with double the
pace as that of our feet!!
Thatmomentdreamingas I wasaboutus,itwasyou,
Who then defined our story with a lot of cuts!!

25. They, Them and Their
"They" judge you at each and every step that you
take,
Caveat! "They" presume a lot, "they" love only
those who act fake
And i still wonder, how can "they" love someone
with 1000 sham candid and zero good deeds?
Also, why don't "they" have the guts to come
forward to tell you where you lack, instead of
defacing you behind your back?
The way you walk, the way you talk, the way you sit,
the way you eat, the way you stare and even what
you wear becomes "their" chartbuster and "their"
own town' s talk
"They" are the mood hoovers, "they" are the
dementors, "their" interactions are contagiously
sour and infectiously dour.
So this is just not a combination of words poured as
an ode
But a strong reply to those chit chatters gossiping
down the road
My rants, my vents are blabbers. I know, they don't
bother "them"
"Their" ignorance, doesn't bother me either and for
sure doesn't turn me wither.

28. First Impressions
The act was done, no more regrets, no amount of
self-pity could undo it. Was it her conscience which
pricked a little bit as she sat in the Starbucks cafe,
sipping her coffee and staring out of the window?
How she wished it didn’t have to come to this. Her
thoughts turned to that first meeting with him at
the bookstore in Khan Market. He seemed
innocuous and almost innocent, disarmingly so.
They had hit it off instantly, sharing comments on
various topical issues. Their interests were similar
too, self-help books and photography manuals.
They seemed to have all the time in the world,
browsing through the shelves, discussing
everything from the philosophical musings of
Sartre to the sceneries captured by Raghu Rai.
Then it started to rain, and they were stuck, quite
happy to be in each other’s company. He told her
about his job in Transaction Advisory services at
EY, and she was more than happy to share her
experiences of teaching frisky teenagers at Kirori
Mal College. It was almost uncanny, the way it
turned out, a chance meeting which extended to a
coffee date and many more. Shyamal Banerjee had
crept into her life and her heart like nobody else
ever had. It was a relationship which slowly turned
passionate, considering it was the first serious one,
for both of them.
Did she feel anything? She thought long and hard.
Was there an inkling of a doubt, a nagging fear that
irked her mind about him? For the life of her, she
could not recall a single instance where she had not
taken him at his word. It was so easy and
convincing, whatever he told her. She never had a
reason to be wary, not a single one.
His parents were in Australia and the PG
accommodation at Gurgaon was close to his office.
He was the only child of his parents, so money was
never an issue. She felt as if their meeting at Khan
Market was fated and they were meant to be
together. Having been brought up on a steady dose
of Hindi films and romantic literature, she was
excited to know that he had already planned their
first sojourn to Rishikesh.
A casual mention of the trip on the phone had her
parents worried. Did she know the guy well enough
to go out of town with him? Were they sharing a
room? What was his age? Endless queries which
had peeved her so much, but in hindsight were for
her own good. She had known him for just over six
months but there was an implicit trust which shone
through the honey-coloured eyes and the boyish
charm.
He seemed to be excited too, but now that she
thought back to that last meeting just two days
before the trip, he seemed a bit preoccupied,
almost as if something was bothering him. They
had met at Cyber Hub for a working lunch at
Subway. She was so busy telling him about her
college festival that she did not heed that look of
his, something she had never seen before, and for
the first time in all the months she had known him,
he was silent. Why did she not listen to her instinct
which must have tried to warn her? How could she
have been so gullible and foolish?
The cab ride was a new experience for her. He had
booked the cab himself and had come to her flat at
Sheikh Sarai to pick her up. The blue silk scarf she
had carried as an afterthought turned out to be
quite handy with the winds blowing around her as
they stopped to have lunch on the highway. She
was petite and strikingly beautiful with her long
hair and translucent skin. People always mistook
her to be from the hills and she was just a little
piqued by that.
The hotel turned out to be better than she had
imagined. It overlooked the Ganges and had a
whole row of first floor spacious rooms with the
magnificent view from the balcony. She had
booked two single rooms. Not wanting to be
perceived as desperate, she had deliberately taken
a decision which would throw him off a little, or at
least this is what she had hoped.
Shyamal was completely at ease, whistling at the
beautiful view when they walked into his room.
Not once did he express any disappointment at the
sight of the single bed. She pretended to be curious
about her own and walked off. He might have been
either too smart to give a reaction or simply not
interested in anything more than a friendship.

29. Pondering over this dilemma, she went in for a
shower.
It was not an earth-shattering decision and in-a-
way it was better if they came together when and if
they wanted to. A hotel room away from the city
was not going to decide the course of her life.
But that is what it did, and she could not even put it
back together.
Somebody had ordered champagne and chocolates
for her room. Maybe the wooing begins here.
Rummaging through her still unpacked suitcase,
she took out what she thought was a dress which
was safe yet alluring. What had come upon her?
Where was her no-nonsense, feet-firmly-on-the-
ground persona? She had absolutely no intention
of seducing the guy on their first trip out of town.
She had to play hard to get, as that always works
with guys, right? Or so she thought.
Shaking off the silly stereotypes from her mind
would take more than a glass of champagne. Her
black palazzos and satiny top made her look
slimmer than she actually was. Her hair was still
wet, in a tight little knot on her head with little
wisps of hair hanging from her ears and from
behind the nape of her neck.
Where had she put her scarf? It was a favourite
one, a lovely sea blue silk scarf which she had
bought on her trip to Europe last summer. She still
remembered the lady in that quaint little shop in
Innsbruck. It had cost her a fortune and she had
scolded herself for being so extravagant.
Looking through her handbag and the little ethnic
purse for knick-knacks which she had picked up at
the last minute did not take long. Where else could
she look? It was not in the strolley for sure, she had
tied her hair with it, when it got too windy. Then it
had come undone, or was it a ploy to get her a little
close in the cab? Thinking back, she lost herself in
the comfort of the shoulder which made her feel so
secure. Did she imagine the caress on her hair or
did it actually happen? This was not going to help.
She rebuked herself for this little trip into
fantasyland and continued to search for it.
She decided to check his room as well. It was the
very next one adjacent to the staircase. Turning
the knob and going inside, she realized that he was
still in the shower. Hesitating to look through his
things in his absence, she saw the half-shut
suitcase and gingerly lifted it to peep inside. The
sheer sophistication of the warm clothes with their
musty smell made her a little curious and she
decided to rummage through it, at the cost of
earning his ire. What she saw under a crisp check
Burberry shirt came as a complete shock. The sleek
edge of the blade glistened under the bedside
lamp, as she slowly took it out. It was a knife.
Her mind stopped working. What was an educated
professional like him doing with a steel knife, which
certainly did not belong here?
Her ice-cool persona took over her completely and
she put the knife inside her wrap hastily, which she
had picked up at the last minute before entering
his room. She left the room as quietly as she had
entered it. How could she know for sure? Was the
knife for protection or something else? She had to
calm herself down and think of something which
would ensure her safety. The first thing she did was
to slip the knife in the front pocket of her handbag.
It was important that she carried it with her all the
time, not giving him a chance to look for it.
Dinner went off smoothly. She was a little taken
aback with his forthrightness. He opened up to her
about his own thoughts and opinions, for the first
time since they had met. These included his
parents’ ugly divorce, his erratic schooling in
Melbourne and Delhi which involved shuttling
back and forth between two different cultures and
his vindication on getting a tailor-made job at EY,
even though some of his close friends were into
less conventional jobs. A friend who was an
engineer in Microsoft, a food blogger-turned-chef
he knew in Melbourne, a guy too involved in his
compression start-up to give his own girlfriend the
time of day. Even while hearing all this, she couldn’t
take her mind off the sharp blade of the knife
which had turned this trip around for her.
Thankfully, he did not ask her much and all she had
to do was to nod, smile and look at him adoringly. If
she had not found the knife, the dinner would have

30. been a clincher. It was almost impossible for her to
believe that he was anything except for what he
told her. She had to find out for sure.
They decided to sit out in the balcony and watch
the lights of the distant temples and hear the
beautiful notes of the aarti for a while. A random
phone call from his boss distracted him for a few
minutes and excusing herself, she quickly walked
towards the corridor. This was her chance to put
the knife back and look for something more
incriminating, she told herself.
The suitcase was still unpacked but it was open.
She calmed herself down and started searching the
pockets inside. That’s when she had seen it. A
chocolate-coloured diary with the words ‘The
Conquests’ caught her eye. With trembling fingers,
she opened it and found herself staring at the
snapshots. They could not have been more than
27-28 years of age. She was 28. Their hair was
brown, auburn, black, even a couple of exotic
redheads. She had black, with some streaks of red.
The beautiful young women. She noticed the dates
under each photograph, written in his beautiful
cursive handwriting. The diary was his, and he was
a serial killer. Was this the script of a poorly-
written horror, where she was the supposed final
girl? Was this all real?
She opened the handbag. She still had the knife.
There was no question. She was going to have to
use it.
The rest was easy. When she went back to the
balcony he was leaning over the parapet, staring at
the river, his vodka glass nearly empty. She just had
to go and stand next to him. When he fell down
next to her feet with a soft thud, she realized she
had thrust it more strongly than she felt herself
capable of. And the jugular, of all places. The
perfect place.
It was dark, and the hotel staff was nowhere to be
seen. She did not want to waste any more time. The
scarf and her things had to be taken. She rushed
out, too content with herself, to hear the ringing.
Checking out of the hotel was easy, as she had her
own room. Taking her glass off the table in the
balcony and throwing it in the Ganga was just an
instinct. All those crime thrillers hadn’t got wasted
after all.
Downstairs in the lobby, Andrew, wine glass in
hand, enquired at the reception about his friend
who was supposed to have checked in the same
day. They were meeting again after almost three
years, on his birthday. Shyamal had even
mentioned a very special gift. Something a chef
would always need in his arsenal, he had said. It
was just around eleven in the night. He decided to
call up his friend again. The bell kept ringing but
there was no response.
He stopped to notice the slender frame of the
woman, who passed him, in haste, chucking the
room keys in the receptionist’s lap, as she quickly
completed her formalities, and bellowed for
someone, in the dark. Soon, she was facing a pair of
headlights. Must be in quite the hurry, he thought.
He forgot her as soon as he saw the ‘No Answer’ on
his phone. He tried him again.
Following the glitzy streetlights, a cab was racing
towards its destination.

CVSMUN ‘18
“They are here, they are lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender and queer and they would like to
say hello!”
This indeed justifies the position of the
LGBTQ community in the contemporary
world but still this community is rather
invisible.
The question is “are you willing to
accommodate changes in your constitution to
house LGBT rights?”
This was the question of the delegate of
Democratic Republic of Korea to the
delegate of Iraq, this thus compels us to
face a daunting point regarding
accommodating rights for LGBTQ in the
constitution itself which indeed is
challenging.
● All these daunting questions and
more in a spirited 2 conference
were taken up by students from
over 35 colleges in the first ever
CVSMUN.
