Causative+Emotional verbs
• The causative form is initially used from
people of higher status to lower status
• However, when you are using with emotional
verbs, the causative form can be used from
lower to higher status or similar status.
Causative form
• The causative verbs can be used with other grammar
point as you saw
• The causative form + ていただけませんか
• + てあげます
• + てもらいます、もらえませんか
• + てくれます、くれませんか
• + てしまいます
• + たいです etc
使役受身形 – Causative Passive form -
グループ1
飲みます→飲ませます→飲ませ→飲ませられます(飲ませられる)
→飲ま →飲まされます(飲まされる) most common
注意:If the dictionary form ends with す like 話す、消す etc, these verbs will not
be changed to されます(される)
×話さされる→○話させられる、×消さされる→○消させられる

食べます→食べさせます→食べさせ→食べさせられます
グループ3
します→させられます(させられる)
来ます→来させられます(こさせられる)
When you use the Causative Passive form, you express the annoyance like the
Suffering passive form.
よしこ:Tatsuya, you don’t look well.
たつや:yes, in fact, I was given lots of homework by my teacher.
よしこ:What? Why?
たつや:I took bad marks in the test the other day (このあいだ)
よしこ:Oh, well, then it can’t be helped. I had something bad
yesterday too. I was made to clean the room yesterday. Moreover, I
was made to go shopping and asked(たのむ) to look after(せわ)
my little sister too.
たつや:That was awful. I get often asked errands by my mum too.
Next weekends, I am forced to drive a car because my mum goes on
trip. Moreover, my mum made me washing a car and cooking for
my little brother, it is going to look like being busy.
よしこ:That’s hard, isn’t it? It’s tough on both of us as we have lots
of things to do.
たつや:yes, let’s both do our best.
