When looking at my production overall for my mental health campaign I think it does look nice but personally in my opinion I think there is just one part that I'm not
too fond on and I know that I can improve. In my opinion this would be my posters I think this is something that I could work on a lot more. As overall I don’t think
they look professional but I also don’t think that they go with the rest of my production for the simple fact they are quiet dark in colour where as everything else
seems to stick to the colour scheme or just white and green so I do feel like this is something that I could have followed into me posters as well. So I feel like if I was
to improve these and make them fit the theme more I feel like it would be a lot better as they would also then look nice on my website and wouldn't look out of
place. Here is some of the feedback that I got about my posters. Someone who answered my survey
said they think that ‘They're pretty good.’ So this is person didn't really think that I had any
improvements to make on them. Then when reading more positive comments on my posters
people seemed to like the font that I used and that on one off the posters I used some crumpled
paper to give it more of an effect. Another good comment that they had made was that they
liked the dead flower that I used as the main photograph which I did like as well but I think if I
was to do my poster again I would get one with a white background to fit my theme more and in
my opinion I felt like since the background was black it gave it more of a negative feeling which
was something that I didn't want to do. As I wanted my campaign to have more of a positive feel
to it as I wanted to make people feel better. I did get some negative feedback about my posters
as well. They talked more about the fact that the logo didn't go too well with the background
colour as it overwhelmed the logo too much so you couldn't’t see as much as I would have liked
people too. The improvement this person gave me was to change my logo colour more then the
colour of my poster as this was something that they liked but I think in my opinion I would
rather change the background colour then the logo colour. As I want the logo colour to be
something people see and recognize as mental health awareness. As this way I can aware
people more and get the word out. An example of this is breast cancer as when you see the pink
ribbon that’s what you think straight away so I want people to think of mental health if they see
a green ribbon. The next kind of improvement idea I was given was to make more posters and
follow the theme that I had already started which I do agree with this feedback more as I think it
would be a good idea to make more posters and carry on having a theme but I do think the
biggest improvement I have is to make some more posters. I also agree with the feedback of
putting a phone number or website on to my posters which was something I did want to do but I
did rush my posters which I think in my opinion did make them so bad as in the end I didn't have
that much time to really think about what it was that I wanted to do for my posters and how I
good bring awareness more to mental health. As the biggest purpose for my campaign is to get
the word out in more of a positive way but to also show people that they shouldn't be afraid to
talk to people as with mental health that’s the best way to try and get better is to talk about
your feelings instead of bottling them up. So I don’t think this is something that my poster did. I
think it had more of a negative approach and also I don’t think it helped people either yes it has
an inspirational little quote. But its not helping people with talking about their feelings and
getting the help they may need.
Posters
Here you have the posters that I originally made
that everyone gave feedback too then a quick one I
made to show how I want to make it different and
for it to go with my other productions more. But as
you can see I still kept with the theme of having this
kind of dead flower image as this was something
that someone said they liked in my feedback. As
they saw it as more being a metaphor for the fact
the deed rose image is showing that not everything
is perfect so why should we try to be. But as you
can see when I did a quick mock up I kept the same
kind of quote as this I felt went well with the
photograph and I feel like it is something that could
really get people thinking and I think that is my
main aim is that I want people to think more about
mental health, as I feel like its something that we
need to focus on to really help the people that need
it. With this mock up as well I like that the
background is white instead of black as in my
opinion it makes it a lot less negative and gives it
more of a positive feel which is what I was wanting
to aim more towards. Also with a white background
you are able to see my logo clearly as well which is a
good thing as then people are able to learn more
about my campaign. I still have a lot of work to do
for the mock up as well. As it is missing things like
my website and social media accounts. As these will
need to be added on so that when people see my
poster they are able to know where it has they need
to go to for help. But you can see that I have
forgotten to but this on any of my posters so it
would be my biggest improvement. I then would
carry on making posters in this style but like I have
said I would stick to the white background as it does
make it look a little bit more positive and not so
dark. As my campaign is still targeting quiet a young
audience so I want them to see this as more
positive then negative. As I feel when they see this
dark poster that has little colour they would be
more scared of it and wouldn't see as somewhere
they can go to talk to people, get help and also
interact with people who are going through the
same feelings.
Here is some feedback that I got from people but from the internet and not just my class. The first piece
of feedback that they had been given about my posters was that they needed to be more vibrant which
is something that I did agree on. Which is why I did the quick mock up. As I felt like the darkness of the
poster was too much and didn't make it as eye-catching as I wanted it to be. The next comment said that
they liked how the posters already looked so I think because of this I could do a mixture of some dark
but also some colourful ones so that I am able to appeal to as many people as I can with my posters so
that I am able to get the word out more for my campaign. The next comment I had gotten was more of a
silly one and not really all that serious as they had said I should have put their face on my posters. Which
I didn't really want to show case people on my posters as when looking at already existing posters this is
something that is common. But another thing is that it doesn't get people thinking as much as the image
I had chosen. As I would rather have people thinking about what the meaning could be rather then just
make the same poster as everyone else. The last piece of feedback I had been given was that I could
have asked people who have suffered or still suffering from mental health issues what I could have put
on to my posters. Which I think is a good idea as this way I would be able to then get their attention
more. But at the same time I don’t think it is the best idea as for some people I think it is private and it
may not work as a lot of people do suffer in their own different ways.
Are your finished pieces fit for their intended purpose?
The purpose of my campaign was that I wanted to bring awareness more towards mental health, as now a days with social media I do feel like a lot of
people feel that they suffer from this when in fact they don’t. So I want to bring more awareness to what mental health is and everything that goes in to
this situation. But apart from bringing awareness I am also wanting to show people that it I okay to talk about how you feel especially more towards the
younger audience. As when I did my survey about mental health issues not a lot people knew much about mental health but they also didn't know where
they were able to go to talk about it either. So I wanted to change this and give people a place they can talk to professionals but also each other so they
can get the help they needed. But with my posters I wanted to do this more in a positive way. But when you are looking at my posters they look a lot more
negative with their lack of colour but also for the fact that the colour I have used is rather dark as well. Which is why I feel like my posters needs to be
improved so that I am able to show it more in a negative way but also put my website and social media accounts so that people know where they able to
go to talk to people. Which is why so far my posters don’t really fit their intended purpose as they don’t tell people where they can go for more
information and they do have a negative feel to them. Which in my opinion I think is bad as my target audience is for 12+ so if they see this as negative
they wont want to search more into it and it will make them feel worse.
Do they communicate your message clearly?
No I don’t feel like they do. As yes my posters give out a message and making people think about it more and give their own outlook onto it but at the
same time my posters don’t show that I'm trying to show people its better to talk about what you are going through rather then bottling it up till it
becomes too much. But I do think the message that I used on my posters does come across clearly and that people are able to come up with their own
ideas of what it means more. As what I am trying to show is yes you do have this dying flower but people still see it as pretty they don’t see it as being
imperfect. Which you can see with the message as well. As even when a flower gets stepped on they do grow back. Which is then telling people that
when things go wrong and you get stepped on all you have to do is get back up again as it wont stay bad forever it will get better at some point. So I think
this communicates my message well. But there are things missing on my posters that could make it better.
Are they appropriate for your target audience?
I think they are appropriate for my audience because like I said mine would be 12+ as I feel like with this kind of a subject you don’t have a age where it
will stop. But I do feel like it is appropriate as with this subject I could have taken a more darker route for how this poster could turn out. As this subject
can be a lot darker so I think yes even though it does a look a bit negative I could have done it worse. As with this poster it wont trigger anyone really
which is the opposite direction of what I am aiming to do. I also feel like the picture I have used and quote is appropriate for this age. As at the age of 12
they are just starting High school and becoming hopefully more mature about these subjects but it is best to educate them at a younger age as it could be
something that one of them will go through either at this age or a bit later on. As mental health in children isn't uncommon and at this age with the social
media influence they are learning more of the negatives to mental health rather then fully knowing what it is. As in 2010-2015 these was a increase of
50% of hospital admissions of children self harming. So I think when you do have things like this happening you can see how my poster would be
appropriate for my target audience. As I could have taken the route of showing things like self harm or even suicide which wouldn't really be appropriate
for any target audience in my opinion as you do have the fact that for a lot people suffering from mental health issues this can seen more of a trigger
warning. Which is the opposite of my aim as I am wanting to help people and show that no matter how bad it will get that your life is still worth living and
it wont always be this bad, it does get better eventually you just have to hold out. Which is also why I think if I was to improve on my posters or make
more in general I do want to carry on with this theme of the flower which in my opinion is showing not everything is perfect so you shouldn't try to be
either. But I think I do have ideas for different ones as well other then this kind of theme. But they would be a lot more simpler but still following the
quote kind of theme. But then add more bright colours in to them as well if I am able too. But I would make sure that they are all appropriate fro my
audience.

Logo
Here is the feedback that I got to do with my logo design. The first piece of good feedback that I got about my logo was that they said it was simple but
effective. Which was something that I was aiming to do as I didn't want my logo to be too much as I feel like this would have taken away more from
what my campaign really is about. But by keeping it simple I also found that it will be something people will be able to recognize easier.
They also said the text was easy to read and the arrow worked well with it. I choose that text
as out of all my choices it did end up being the easiest to read and I still wanted the font to
be different to just the normal font that you would use everyday. I then had a reason as to
why I used the arrow as an arrow can be seen as yes in life you may go back but you will
always go forward at some point. So I think when it comes to mental health that is something
works well in my opinion. They then didn't really have any weakness to do with the logo but
more to the fact you couldn't see my logo well on the posters that I ended up making as they
were too dark. Which is something I had spotted myself and know that I need to improve on
this. The next piece of good feedback I had gotten was that they liked the name of the
campaign as they feel its something that goes well with what I am trying to do. As when on
social media look more into the meaning of ‘I'm Fine’ you will come across the fact that when
many people say this that it actually means the complete opposite and people are just lying
saying they are fine. When in fact they are the complete opposite. But I thought that
especially for my younger audience this is something that would hit them a lot more and they
would understand the true meaning and what it is trying to get across. Then for the
weakness of the logo even though they did like the idea of it they thought it was too calm for
such a troubling cause. Which I do see their point but this was the idea of my logo I didn't
want something that looked troubling or where you could tell as soon as you saw the logo
what it would be for. As I see that sometimes things like mental health can be more private so
I didn't want a logo where you could see straight away what it is for like some of the other
logos that I have seen when I did my research. So I think I would rather keep my logo how it is
and just keep it simple. As even the colour I did want it to be calm and just a light green as I
want people to associate green with mental health more as I think it’s a cause that needs to
be more known and taught. The next piece of feedback that I had gotten was that they
thought it was good, deep and that it goes well with what my campaign is about. Which I am
glad as it then means that I have done the job that I needed too. They then didn't have any
feedback on how I could have made my logo better. I think maybe one thing I could do to
improve it a little is make it in a few more colours as one person did say they would have
liked to see more of a development for my logo.
I think in my opinion that my logo did come out well and I do like how it looks in the end. I do think I could have
done more of a logo development and experimented more with different colours. But I ended up just sticking with
the colour green as after some research I did find that this colour was the colour of the ribbon for mental health
awareness. Which is something that I didn't actually know so I thought that if my logo was green then hopefully
people will associate the two with each other more.
Here is both of my posters when looking at them against ones that already exist. When you look at the
first poster I have found that already exists by MQ you can see that they have used a photograph of a
person to get their point across more. They have also used a black and white photograph which I think
works really well for the fact that they then have the white and yellow writing which stands out really
well against the photograph. I also think when you look at the poster you noticed the writing first an
what it is telling you and then you go on to look at the photograph next. Which I think the writing they
have used is good and grabs your attention. You can tell straight away that the aim for MQ is to focus
more on a younger audience. But when looking at the photograph you don’t seem to get this idea still as
the model looks at least to be starting her 20s and when you search up more of these posters you find
that this is the case for the rest of them as well. Where as they could have focused on younger then that
as well. But when you compare it to mine you can see that I have take a complete different approach to
there's. But unlike there's with mine you cant see my logo well which is something big that I do need to
improve on a lot more. As your logo is very important as its how people are able to search you up and
learn more about your campaign. But I think with my poster does give it a new outlook on how people
will see it. As there not just seeing this person who may be smiler or has no expression on their face and
associating that to do with mental health. As I feel like that’s something a lot of people have done. For
example like this poster as I'm not too sure it really has a meaning or says anything to its audience.
Where as mine it showing a dead flower and its something that I feel will get people thinking more about
my poster and it could be something that they think about for a whole day. Where as with the person no
one will think anything of it or see a deeper meaning to it.
I then compared my poster more to posters that are a little bit more similar to mine. But I would still say
it is highly different. I think one aspect of the two posters that is the same is the fact that it does get you
thinking about what the message it is trying to give off. As I feel like the existing poster is tell you that
you are better then what mental health you may be suffering from.
