Unit 15 Witness Statement
This is my witness
statement that was
given to me after I has
completed my pitch
from Miss Oliver. This
was to provide
feedback from my
pitch. It state good
features and some
which could be
improved. Tasks were
highlighted and ticked
to confirm that I had
done the tasks.
Draft Layouts
In both of these designs it is very obvious to see what I am
advertising. The festival name is at the top of the page and is
very big which draws lots of attention. The main image is well
shown in the middle of the page and it fills most of it.

scheme with an
designer and
editor. This will
also need to be
decided for the

I am going to make
some graphic layouts to
see if it looks nice and
appropriate with the

going to listen to the
music and look at the
chosen colour scheme
for the audio-visual
advert and see if they
go well together with
the colour scheme well
representing the music
genre.
I am going to

Conclusion to Production Plan
The reason why I have made a production plan is so that I can clearly
see what I need to do on a day to day basis to be able to complete and
make my adverts and this highlights how I am sticking to a deadline.
By planning this I am able to create a deadline where I know what date
I am going to be finished by. Also, this plan will allow me to visualize
every stage which needs to be done and I can see if there is anything
missing. Overall, it makes me a lot more organized by planning and
arranging what is going to happen, thus making the creation of the
adverts very efficient.
The have chosen for all of the adverts to be released on the same day
as this makes it easier to know when they are going to be released. If
they were all on different day it would be harder to keep track when
they were going to be released. Also with all of these adverts being
released at the same time I think it will be more effective as with
multiple ways in which it can reach people they will be exposed to it
more as they are 3 adverts being released rather than 1 at a time
which people could forget about or more easily ignore.
Photos used
These are the photos which I used for the Photoshop adverts. I have edited these
images to make them look more professional and appropriate to my adverts. They
were then placed as an background or as an image.
Equipment
I used a DSLR 1200D canon camera to take the all of the
pictures (£257). I also used an IPhone 4s (£193) to take
some test photos to make sure the setting as it was
quicker to do this on the phone while setting up the
camera. I also used a tripod (£9.03) for the camera to
reduce the amount of movement of the camera which
reduces the amount of blurred pictures as well as it is
easier to get the same positioning of the photos.

Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)
The ASA are a organization where they have to
responsibility to regulate adverts and respond to
complaints about them. People will complain if they are
offended and the ASA will check to see if they break any
codes.
This means that my adverts cannot be inappropriate so
that it doesn’t offend anyone and I must stay within the
ASA codes. The images and written material which I use
cannot be inappropriate. The advert must be ethically
sound to not to offend. Otherwise I will have to suffer the
consequences which would mean that my advert would
be removed and I will have to change it and re-distribute
it. This is an un-necessary cost which I wish to avoid.
https://www.asa.org.uk/About-ASA.aspx
Risk Assessment
Safe Working Practices
I use Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 to make my poster and
magazine advert. I used this because it has all the tools and
features which I need to use to edit my poster and magazine
advert to make it look professional and of very high quality.
Some of the tools which I used were the crop, gradient, shape,
text, adding my own images, quick selection tool and rubber.
The gradient was used to make one of my backgrounds where
the colours changed from yellow to red and green. The
colours were able to fade nicely between each other which
can only be done on Photoshop. When using colours I used
the Swatch's which I could save in so that I would use exactly
the same colour each time.
Changes made from Feedback on the Magazine advert
After my pitch there was lots of feedback given to me from my Witness Statement and Survey monkey
on my Magazine Advert where there were good features and some which could be changed or added.
One change which I have made was the Puff promotion. Based on the feedback given in the Witness
Statement I added a stroke around it to make it more visible and stand out more from the background. I
also added some social media icons and a Hash tag to promote social synergy for my festival as
recommended from someone in my Survey Monkey. I also changed the colours of the blue which were
hard to read to red which is easier to read especially at longer distances. I also added a dark blue
background so that it is easier to read. Furthermore, there logo was recommended to be added. It was
also recommended that I move the logo away from the edge which was from my client.
Before After
Changes made from Feedback Poster
For the Poster I had the same recommendation to move the
logo more away from the edge and more into the poster
which was stated my Witness Statement. Also, I should again
add more social media synergy at the bottom of the page
which meant that I also move the website url to the right
more.
Before After
Changes made from Feedback to the
Pitch
From the Witness Statement it was stated that I could make some improvements to some of the slides
in the Prezi.
One of these was the Launch date in the production plan as it needed to be more clear so I could put a
red box around it.
I should also add a slide about the specific connotation on the Slogan.
I made a mistake in the Prezi where I said Magazine poster instead of Magazine Advert, which I need to
change.
Clients Likes
From my Witness statement there were some comments on
parts of the adverts which was liked.
The Draft Logo was liked and it looked very techno which is
one type of genre at the festival. The Regulatory bodies of
codes of conduct was stated it was very detailed. The whole of
the pre-production was stated to be very detailed by
highlighting all the plans well. The deadlines were outlined
well and the Overall thoughts on the adverts were very
professional looking. This included the sunset image which I
took and of the person jumping acting as a shadow. Also, the
artists names where well laid out.
Content of the Product
The purpose of the content is to inform the audience
about the festival specifically when its is , where it is and
who is performing. There is also a Website url and
telephone number to also inform users more about the
festival. At the bottom of the magazine advert and poster
there is social synergy with other social media site.
Comparison to existing product –
Magazine Advert
Both of these adverts have similar themes. They are both very full and busy with
content available for the audience. They also have Puff promotions, a black
shadow of a person/monster. The headers are both big and the artist are laid out
in a similar way. Overall, it has the same layout as my magazine advert and the
content of the product is correct based on form and style because I followed a
advert of inspiration.
Do my adverts meet the Legal and
Ethical requirements?
I believe that my adverts do meet the legal and ethical
requirements. I won’t get into legal difficulties due to I
haven't copied anyone's content which would breach
Intellectual property. This was because I created all of my
designs myself.
In my location Reece I have stated that I didn’t need
permission to take the photos as they were either in a
public place or at my house.
There is also no copyrighted material used in my adverts.
I haven't added any information which could be deemed
as offensive or violent so it shouldn’t offend anyone. Also,
there is no slander or defamation of character with the
adverts against anyone as well.
Final Versions
On the left is the magazine advert and on the
right is the poster. They are both one side of A4
and I believe that they have successfully
conveyed the the campaign message.
Conclusion
I have concluded that I will be using this poster
and magazine advert for my adverts for the
JUMP Festival in 2016. This is because based on
the people who I presented my pitch to they
liked my adverts and said that they were very
appropriate. As this was very positive I think this
will be a similar response from the general
public.

  • 11. Conclusion to Production Plan The reason why I have made a production plan is so that I can clearly see what I need to do on a day to day basis to be able to complete and make my adverts and this highlights how I am sticking to a deadline. By planning this I am able to create a deadline where I know what date I am going to be finished by. Also, this plan will allow me to visualize every stage which needs to be done and I can see if there is anything missing. Overall, it makes me a lot more organized by planning and arranging what is going to happen, thus making the creation of the adverts very efficient. The have chosen for all of the adverts to be released on the same day as this makes it easier to know when they are going to be released. If they were all on different day it would be harder to keep track when they were going to be released. Also with all of these adverts being released at the same time I think it will be more effective as with multiple ways in which it can reach people they will be exposed to it more as they are 3 adverts being released rather than 1 at a time which people could forget about or more easily ignore.
  • 12. Photos used These are the photos which I used for the Photoshop adverts. I have edited these images to make them look more professional and appropriate to my adverts. They were then placed as an background or as an image.
  • 13. Equipment I used a DSLR 1200D canon camera to take the all of the pictures (£257). I also used an IPhone 4s (£193) to take some test photos to make sure the setting as it was quicker to do this on the phone while setting up the camera. I also used a tripod (£9.03) for the camera to reduce the amount of movement of the camera which reduces the amount of blurred pictures as well as it is easier to get the same positioning of the photos. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-1200D-Digital-Camera-3-5-5- 6/dp/B00IE3UR08 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-16GB-iPhone-Free- Smartphone/dp/B0062ZFSCM/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1466 584538&sr=1-7&keywords=iphone+4s https://www.amazon.co.uk/Konig-Traveller-Camera-Camcorder- Tripod/dp/B0017PEBZW/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=146 6584700&sr=1-9&keywords=tripod
  • 14. Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) The ASA are a organization where they have to responsibility to regulate adverts and respond to complaints about them. People will complain if they are offended and the ASA will check to see if they break any codes. This means that my adverts cannot be inappropriate so that it doesn’t offend anyone and I must stay within the ASA codes. The images and written material which I use cannot be inappropriate. The advert must be ethically sound to not to offend. Otherwise I will have to suffer the consequences which would mean that my advert would be removed and I will have to change it and re-distribute it. This is an un-necessary cost which I wish to avoid. https://www.asa.org.uk/About-ASA.aspx
  • 16. Safe Working Practices I use Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 to make my poster and magazine advert. I used this because it has all the tools and features which I need to use to edit my poster and magazine advert to make it look professional and of very high quality. Some of the tools which I used were the crop, gradient, shape, text, adding my own images, quick selection tool and rubber. The gradient was used to make one of my backgrounds where the colours changed from yellow to red and green. The colours were able to fade nicely between each other which can only be done on Photoshop. When using colours I used the Swatch's which I could save in so that I would use exactly the same colour each time.
  • 17. Changes made from Feedback on the Magazine advert After my pitch there was lots of feedback given to me from my Witness Statement and Survey monkey on my Magazine Advert where there were good features and some which could be changed or added. One change which I have made was the Puff promotion. Based on the feedback given in the Witness Statement I added a stroke around it to make it more visible and stand out more from the background. I also added some social media icons and a Hash tag to promote social synergy for my festival as recommended from someone in my Survey Monkey. I also changed the colours of the blue which were hard to read to red which is easier to read especially at longer distances. I also added a dark blue background so that it is easier to read. Furthermore, there logo was recommended to be added. It was also recommended that I move the logo away from the edge which was from my client. Before After
  • 18. Changes made from Feedback Poster For the Poster I had the same recommendation to move the logo more away from the edge and more into the poster which was stated my Witness Statement. Also, I should again add more social media synergy at the bottom of the page which meant that I also move the website url to the right more. Before After
  • 19. Changes made from Feedback to the Pitch From the Witness Statement it was stated that I could make some improvements to some of the slides in the Prezi. One of these was the Launch date in the production plan as it needed to be more clear so I could put a red box around it. I should also add a slide about the specific connotation on the Slogan. I made a mistake in the Prezi where I said Magazine poster instead of Magazine Advert, which I need to change.
  • 20. Clients Likes From my Witness statement there were some comments on parts of the adverts which was liked. The Draft Logo was liked and it looked very techno which is one type of genre at the festival. The Regulatory bodies of codes of conduct was stated it was very detailed. The whole of the pre-production was stated to be very detailed by highlighting all the plans well. The deadlines were outlined well and the Overall thoughts on the adverts were very professional looking. This included the sunset image which I took and of the person jumping acting as a shadow. Also, the artists names where well laid out.
  • 21. Content of the Product The purpose of the content is to inform the audience about the festival specifically when its is , where it is and who is performing. There is also a Website url and telephone number to also inform users more about the festival. At the bottom of the magazine advert and poster there is social synergy with other social media site.
  • 22. Comparison to existing product – Magazine Advert Both of these adverts have similar themes. They are both very full and busy with content available for the audience. They also have Puff promotions, a black shadow of a person/monster. The headers are both big and the artist are laid out in a similar way. Overall, it has the same layout as my magazine advert and the content of the product is correct based on form and style because I followed a advert of inspiration.
  • 23. Do my adverts meet the Legal and Ethical requirements? I believe that my adverts do meet the legal and ethical requirements. I won’t get into legal difficulties due to I haven't copied anyone's content which would breach Intellectual property. This was because I created all of my designs myself. In my location Reece I have stated that I didn’t need permission to take the photos as they were either in a public place or at my house. There is also no copyrighted material used in my adverts. I haven't added any information which could be deemed as offensive or violent so it shouldn’t offend anyone. Also, there is no slander or defamation of character with the adverts against anyone as well.
  • 24. Final Versions On the left is the magazine advert and on the right is the poster. They are both one side of A4 and I believe that they have successfully conveyed the the campaign message.
  • 25. Conclusion I have concluded that I will be using this poster and magazine advert for my adverts for the JUMP Festival in 2016. This is because based on the people who I presented my pitch to they liked my adverts and said that they were very appropriate. As this was very positive I think this will be a similar response from the general public.
