The government gives three reasons for the high Pregnancy
rates amongst teenagers, these are:
• Low expectations. Many young people do not see any
prospects for them in later life and therefore no reason for
them not to get pregnant.
• Ignorance. Young people do not have enough knowledge
about contraception and STI’s
• Mixed Messages. Teenagers are told underage sex is
wrong but the media portrays it as normal. What should they
