In this presentation, Vignesh introduces IoT and associated trends. Vignesh is interested in IoT applications in the Home automation space. He has also discussed an innovative idea for home security system which he calls G-Home.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a scenario in which objects, animals or people are provided
with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring
human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
It also refers to the ever-growing network of physical objects that feature an IP address
for internet connectivity, and the communication that occurs between these objects and
other Internet-enabled devices and systems.
The Internet of Things extends internet connectivity beyond traditional devices
like desktop and laptops , smartphones and tablets to a diverse range of devices and
everyday things that utilize embedded technology to communicate and interact with the
external environment, all via the Internet.
The Internet of Things is currently being applied in a wide variety of uses
throughout the home, businesses, hospitals, cars and entire cities.
The most common places everyday consumers see Internet-connected devices
are in the home. Internet-connected objects, from thermostats and lights to smart
outlets and key tracking devices, are used in the home to help owners save time
Being able to remotely monitor and control which devices are on and off at any
certain time helps homeowners reduce monthly electric, gas and water bills.
Its full potential can be seen when multiple devices are interacting and
communicating with each other all at one time.

The worldwide internet of things (IOT) market is poised for exponential growth
over the next several years. However, the IOT ecosystem is a complex
segment, with multiple layers and hundreds of players, including
semiconductor vendors, mobile operators, IOT platform players, software
vendors, and professional services providers.
Home automation has had its fits and starts for the last 20 years, but it appears that
most of the variables are in place to ignite serious growth in this currently nascent
The rapid evolution of the IoT market has caused an explosion in the number and
variety of IoT solutions. Additionally, large amounts of funding are being deployed at
IoT startups. Consequently, the focus of the industry has been on manufacturing and
producing the right types of hardware to enable those solutions. In that model, most
IoT solution providers have been building all components of the stack, from the
hardware devices to the relevant cloud services or the solutions
IOT became popular for its home automation. This attracted me a lot. This home
automation can be enhanced more to make the house most sophisticated
place for humans.
The present home automation makes the user to control the electrical gadgets
present at home.eg: the fan speed can be controlled, light brightness etc.
The present automation system can be enhanced with fewer changes proposed
from my idea.
My idea is to make a GUARD HOME(G-HOME) by protecting our house with
Our mobile is used for monitor the cameras fixed around or in the house. Each of
the these cameras are fixed with a electromagnetic gun which can be used to
paralyze the intruder who enters the house.

The doors and gates can also be secured . When the intruder tries to break the
lock, an alarm is made to the user’s mobile and the user can immediately monitor it
through the camera. An electric charge can be passed through the handle and
keyholes of the door or gate.
The user can take pictures of the intruder through the mobile phone and send it to
police force , if in case the intruder escapes .But to make the intruder caught the
EMP gun is used .
Here I combined both android features and modern IoT concepts for Home
If I get selected in this internship, I will be very happy and proud that
I will be able to learn a lot in the field of IoT. This internship will
provide an opportunity for me to showcase my talent to the world
and provide me experience in the world of IoT, which is absolutely
going to be the future scope of living for the human race.
