8. GTTP Affiliated Organizations in addition to NAF:
The GTTP has Memoranda of Understanding with three key
organizations:
•ATA (Africa Travel Association). ATA endorses the GTTP curriculum
and currently is working with GTTP to establish a new GTTP program
in Tanzania.
•ITT (Institute for Travel & Tourism). This UK professional organization
has accredited Passport to the World, the GTTP introductory
curriculum. (Passport has been endorsed by WTTC as well.)
•Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) will work with GTTP to
introduce more resources on sustainable tourism to GTTP schools.

Twinning schools in the US with GTTP schools
Concept being considered:
A joint NAF-Passport certificate
Awarded to students who successfully complete NAF course criteria
and Passport criteria
Endorsed by industry
www.gttp.org
14. GTTP Assessment Criteria: Portfolio Evaluation
A student’s Portfolio is developed over time and demonstrates skills
(capability of the student to do something) and attitudes (relating to things
and people) and knowledge (processed information).
Based on “proofs” of competencies
Is both a process and a product.
Requires extra effort by teachers since each student has her own learning
path.
Students participate in the evaluation and negotiate with teachers on tasks
required to fulfil requirements.

15. GTTP - NAF curriculum collaboration: Issues being
discussed
How determine the mix of NAF courses and Passport materials a
student would have to complete in order to earn the joint
certificate?
Which assessment criteria?
How make Passport materials available to interested NAF students
and teachers whether or not they want the joint certificate?
16. GTTP – NAF collaboration: Next Steps
Schools interested in the proposed joint curriculum and certificate
should contact Andrew Rothstein, NAF.

In some countries, the GTTP program is for students in the final year of secondary school, and in others the GTTP is focused on students in grade 10, 11 and/or 12. Each country uses its own tourism education requirements. In some countries, schools use a GTTP-developed curriculum as their official curriculum while other use it to supplement their own courses. There are 3 components: An Instructor Guide, a student Resources Guide, and Worksheets which contain activities tied to each unit of the curriculum and that allow an instructor to “localize” the curriculum. Passport has been translated into Russian, French, Magyar, Portuguese and the Chinese version will have English on one page and Chinese on the opposite page.
This syllabus is available on the GTTP website as is the Introduction to the Instructor Guide.
