After the Olympics the Partnership evolved into the Herts Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Partnership in order to sustain the legacy benefits and best practice has built up over the last few years. With over 20 funding partners including all the District Councils, this body, via a dedicated Legacy Coordinator, went on to support a number of sporting events and opportunities for local residents. the development of Handball clubs across the county (£6k).
facilitation of a number of opportunities for local children and young people through pledging their various services and
During 2013 the Legacy Partnership Board began to debate its future funding and organisational arrangements. As part of this, it was proposed to establish a new countywide Lifestyle and Legacy Partnership which would build upon the work of the existing Olympic Legacy Board whilst broadening it horizons to a wider set of shared objectives in the areas of health and wellbeing, public health, sport, recreation, culture and volunteering.
2.5With this aim in mind a paper proposing such a partnership was taken to Hertfordshire Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Partnership Board in September 2013. There was general support within the group for a new Lifestyle and Legacy Partnership that would have a wider set of aspirations around ensuring healthy, active and resilient communities, promoting healthy lifestyles and social, physical and mental wellbeing. It was proposed that the new partnership would not require a subscription fee.
2.6To ensure that that partnership embraced as wide a community as possible, it was agreed that other relevant organisations, including, inter alia, Primary Heads Forum, Herts Community Foundation and Herts Housing Association should be invited to be part of the partnership.
