Petrobras announces new discovery in the State of Sergipe
Petrobras has announced the discovery of oil and natural gas in the Carmópolis Field, east of Sergipe State (North-east Brazil). This is the fourth time that the company finds oil and gas in the area, one of the largest onshore fields of the company and which is under a revitalisation process.
The Revitalisation of High Level Exploration Fields Program (RECAGE) started in 2006 and aims at identifying all mature fields which already produce oil, in order to optimise the production volume.
Carmópolis was discovered in 1963 and has reached a peak production of 27 thousand barrels per day, a volume that can be even surpassed with the discovery of new wells.

Petrobras announces new gas discovery in the Espírito Santo Basin
Petrobras has announced a discovery of hydrocarbons in deep waters in the post-salt area of the Espírito Santo Basin, after drilling a well known as Lontra, in 1,319 meter deep waters. Such well, located 81 km from the city of Vitoria in Espírito Santo State and in the concession production area of Golfinho, has shown the existence of condensed gas according to drilling and cable tests.
2. Petrobras operates and holds 100% of the production concession of Golfinho’s field.

Libra Consortium confirms oil discovery in the Santos Basin
The Libra Consortium has informed that the drilling of the first well in the Libra area, 3-BRSA-1255-RJS (3-RJS-731), has presented oil of good quality in the northern part of the structure. Informally known as NW1, the well is located in the pre-salt area of Santos Basin, 170 km from the Rio de Janeiro State coast, and approximately 4 km to southeast of well 2-ANP- 2A-RJS.
The part containing oil was detected by means of liquid sample analysed by laboratory. The well is still being drilled, in a depth of 5,326 meters, and the drilling will continue up to 5,850 meters.
The Libra Consortium is formed by Petrobras (40%), Shell (20%), Total (20%), CNPC (10%) and CNOOC Ltda. (10%), whilst Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) is the manager of the contract. Libra was the first area to be auctioned by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) under a production share agreement regime.

Oil production in Brazil breaks record of 2.326 million bpd in August
The total production of oil and natural gas in Brazil in August was 2.89 million of barrels per day, being 2.326 million of daily oil barrels and 90.9 million cubic meters of natural gas. According to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), it is the biggest volume registered so far, superseding the previous month, when the oil and gas production totalised 2.82 million of oil barrels per day.
3. As per ANP, such oil production in August was even higher than the 2.267 million barrels per day registered last month. There has been an increase of 2.6% in the oil production in relation to July 2014 and 15.7% in relation to August 2013. The production of natural gas surpassed 3.4% in relation to the previous month.
The pre-salt production has increased 11% in relation to that of the previous month, totalising 647 thousand oil barrels per day, being 553 thousand of daily oil barrels and 18.1 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. The production originated from 35 wells located in fields of Baleia Azul, Baleia Franca, Jubarte, Barracuda, Caratinga, Linguado, Lula, Marlim Leste, Pampo, Sapinhoá, Trilha and in areas of Iara and Entorno de Iara.

Petrobras breaks record in diesel and kerosene treatment
Petrobras has reached a daily record in the hydro treatment of diesel and kerosene for aviation in its refineries in Brazil. On 10 September, the volume processed was of 109 thousand cubic meters, four thousand cubic meters higher than the former record on 6 June 2014.
According to Petrobras, the result reinforces the continuous research for operational efficiency in refineries by means of supply system. Such effort contributes for the reduction of derivatives import.

Rio prepares a project for integration of oil & gas companies
The Subsea Cluster – a project amongst the State Economic, Energy, Industry and Services Development (SEDEIS), National Organisation of Oil Industry (ONIP) and the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) - will gather subsea equipment manufacturers and service suppliers of oil and gas exploration in Rio de Janeiro, such as FMC Technologies, GE Wellstream, NOV, Research Centres of Halliburton, Schlumberger and Baker Hugues.
4. The Research Development secretary of MDIC, Heloisa Menezes, informed that the Ministry will invest R$800 thousand and ONIP will invest R$320 thousand in the project.
In the first stage of the project, the companies of the first level of the sector’s supply chain will participate of the evaluation of how the cluster will work, how the sub-suppliers chain will be considered, whether there will be a specific area for suppliers and whether logistic and storage services will be shared.
Julio Bueno of SEDEIS, believes that the State of Rio de Janeiro has favourable conditions for the success of the project, such as the oil companies already operating in the State, research centres and universities. Subsea Cluster aims at creating an institutional environment which allows the identification of opportunities. The project is expected to be completed in 18 months-time.
