Position Drone Operation Manager
Role of the Position Operations
Reporting To: CEO
Reported By: DGM (HR)

outcome needed from the position
Systematizing the Operations functions through process formation, implementation and
adherence; Cost planning, monitoring and optimization; Tracking certifications,
licenses, training, and proficiency of each pilot; assigning pilots to each job; overseeing
travel schedules; ensuring rest requirements are met; and measuring on-the-job
performance
Primary Responsibilities 1. The Drone Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring all the functions of
the program are running smoothly, whether accomplished in-house or outsourced.
2. Managing a corporate drone program requires the coordination, oversight, and
execution of a wide range of tasks and functions.
3. The Drone Operations Manager will work with a team that might include full-time
and/or contract pilots, trainers, drone engineers, and data analysts, among others.
4. Continuously ensuring company policies are being followed, tracking program
metrics, and measuring program benefits for Performance Tracking and Program
Improvements.

5. The Drone Operations Manager is the first call from the pilot, if anything goes
wrong during the mission.
6. Checking airspace, flight, and pilot rules and regulations for each job; ensuring that
any necessary permits, licenses, trainings, or waivers are in place.
Secondary Responsibilities 1. Supporting vendors, contractors, etc for resolution of various crisis
2. Working in close coordination with the Legal Department, Software Management
Department, Security and Safety teams for various issues.

Prepare flight plans; Tracking certifications, licenses of each drone; ensuring end
requirements are met; During training they acquire knowledge of navigation on
unmanned flights, meteorology, flight performance and planning, and flight rules;
Primary Responsibilities 7. Determining flight schedule, pattern, altitude, and image capture specifications, as
well as any weather-related requirements (e.g. temperature, light, or irradiance
limitations), to meet the data goals of the job.
8. Flying the drone and appropriate sensor payload, according to the flight plan and
safety procedures, to collect the data from the job site.
9. Collecting all flight data such as flight path, altitude, speed, battery usage, and
screen captures to effectively document and track the flight.
10.Continuously ensuring company policies are being followed, tracking program
metrics, and measuring program benefits (e.g. costs and hazardous man-hours
saved).
11.Ensure adherence to all the safety standards set by the organization.

12.Assist with documentation of trials/demonstrations and other events.
13.Carrying out manual flights.
14.Pilots need to undergo practical and theoretical training to obtain a UAVO
qualification certificate with the authority to perform BVLOS flights.

Managing shipping and storage logistics, following equipment maintenance schedules,
and completing repairs or upgrades as needed
Primary Responsibilities 1. Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical integration of new hardware
components on the internal fleet of test vehicles for R&D and testing.
2. Troubleshoot and debug any components of a drone in the office or in the field.
3. Maintenance of vehicle for flight testing and mission ready performance.
4. Enable data quality checks while pilot team is on-site.
5. Power and control electrical systems prototyping, design and implementation.
6. Ground and flight tests, and data collection.
7. Process and convert raw drone data into actionable drone product data.
