POURING POT
Other Ingredients & Equipment You'll Need:
16 oz. Apothecary jar
Stainless Steel Measuring Spoon
Stainless Steel Measuring Cups
Stainless steel spoon
Pot (for double boiler)
Scales
Stove
2. 1. Using the double boiler method discussed in one of our candle making classes, melt 1/3 lb. of WOW single-
pour wax.
2. Add 2 drops of blue candle dye and stir until completely dispersed in melted wax.
3. Add 1 Tablespoon of Blueberry Fragrance oil. Stir.
4. When wax is around 150F, CAREFULLY-pour wax mixture into jar, pouring until the jar is only 1/3 of the
way full. Be careful not to drip or splatter the wax or the imperfections will show up in your finished product.
5. Allow this layer to form about 1/4" cloudy film on the bottom of the jars. Then quickly take your CD-12
wicks and straighten them and place (2) wicks into your jars. We use 2 wicks so that the candle burns evenly
all of the way across. Make sure that your wicks are not too close to each other, but also not too close to the
sides of the jars.
6. Allow this layer to set up, but still warm to the touch. If you allow the layers to set up for long periods of
time, the wax may come away from the sides of the jar and the second layer you pour will end up going
behind this layer....creating ugly candles. If you happen to allow your layers to set up too long, place the
candles in the oven on 200F until the layer begins to melt on top....this should take about 8 minutes. Then
allow the layer to set up (but remain warm to touch) before pouring your next layer. If you pour your next
layer too quickly, the coloring from the previous layer will discolor the new layer. TIMING IS EVERYTHING!
7. Pour your second layer the same way (second layer for this recipe uses NO coloring, but we do use 1
Tablespoon French Vanilla fragrance oil).
8. Pour your third layer the same way (third layer for this recipe uses 3 drops of red candle dye and is
scented with 1 Tablespoon Red Delicious Apple Fragrance Oil).
9. Straighten your wicks when pouring each layer!
10. Allow your candle to completely set up at room temperature. Allow to cure for 3 days before burning.
