their career as a leader. Susan has encouraged aspiring
leaders through a culture change and mentoring program

journey that has seen her flourish as an ideal leader for

Key strategies for becoming a successful leader
The success of any organisation relies on the talent,
commitment and passion of its leaders. It is also critical
that opportunities are given to staff at all levels to
demonstrate leadership. There are two areas of focus
for senior leaders - personal leadership, and the policy
and system levers that can influence and encourage the
desired leadership across the organisation. Reflecting

and further tap into the experiences and opinions of audience
members. Participants will be invited to discuss:
• How can organisations and managers continue to remove
barriers preventing women from seeking and / or acquiring
senior leadership positions?
• What does it take for women to reach senior leadership?
• What has worked previously in assisting women to
advance?

Dynamic and transformatonal, yet humble,
leadership - Being humble does not mean you
cant be dynamic
The dynamic leader speaks up, expressing his or her
opinion when others don’t necessarily want to hear it.
That same leader is savvy enough to know when it is best
to be diplomatic or humble, and when it is best to keep
quiet or retreat. They are not afraid to debate and to listen
to divergent opinions. However, when long held values
are challenged, the dynamic leader will not be afraid to
stand by those values, no matter the criticism or challenge
posed by an opponent. Vicki leads a team of dynamic
leaders, encouraging the development of a transformational
leadership style to enhance effectiveness and personal
resilience. Discuss:
• Understanding the essence and characteristics of
dynamic and humble leaders
• Recognising that transformational leadership requires
transformational thinking

Understanding and generating a personal brand
fit for you as an aspiring leader
Commonly when women are asked about their title as a
leader they are often reluctant or unsure of their standpoint
or importance. Commonly these responses are not
dependant on your confidence but heavily on the lack of
a personal label and brand. These labels often define our
roles and importance within an organisation and play a
part in defining our leadership success. As a female leader
with multiple labels, Georgie will discuss the importance
of generating a label that is fit for you to pave a road to
success. Discuss:
• Generating a professional identity that boosts
opportunities and promotes career development
• Understanding your leadership style to promote a label
and brand that is applicable to your role
• Establishing your presence to initiate further development
through values-based leadership
