Silverdisc Website Leads

  1. 1. 11 HOW TO GET MORE LEADS THROUGH YOUR WEBSITE Many people think of their website as an online brochure. They think they can spend £X to build that brochure website and – “job done” – it will miraculously generate lots of new business, far in excess of that amount. But, if it were that easy then everybody would be doing it! Thinking like this can set you up for failure from day one, failure being defined as “making a loss or, at best, a lot less profit than you could have made from your website.” “YOUR WEBSITE IS A MEMBER OF YOUR SALES TEAM” If instead you think of your website as an employee of your business – as a member of your sales team – this can set you on the path to success. Think of your website not as a brochure but as a hard-working team member, where your website build cost is equivalent to a recruitment fee; your Internet marketing cost is equivalent to a salary; and the ongoing work to produce content and improve the visitor experience on your website is equivalent to a training and development budget. You invest both time and money into your employees to nurture and develop them so that they can perform for your business. You need to apply the same thinking to your website if you want it to similarly work for you, in actively delivering more leads and sales. “YOU NEED TO PAY YOUR WEBSITE A SALARY” For your website to perform like a top sales person, it needs to deliver you leads; for leads you need well-targeted visitors, and for well-targeted visitors you need effective Internet marketing. At SilverDisc, our skills in website building, Internet marketing and conversion rate optimisation are the keys to our clients’ success. Treat your website like a member of your team and, over time, you too will see the fruits of your investment. Treat your website like a brochure and it’s likely to do comparatively little. If you use a modern mobile phone then you probably have apps on it and use some of them. These could be apps for weather forecasts, email, Facebook, banking, eBay, Amazon, BBC news, games, etc. Given that you are probably not Amazon or the BBC, would an app for your business be of any use? We asked Curt Wilkinson, owner of local software development company dvelop.it for his advice… “I find most business owners get confused. They think apps are only for big brands and very expensive. Neither is true. Firstly, nearly everyone has a smart mobile phone or tablet and they are using them for more and more things. Secondly, people using mobile devices get used to having information at their fingertips. So this tells us that an increasing number of people prefer to access information on their mobile devices - and they want it instantly. These people could be your customers or employees. To work out whether YOUR business would benefit from an app, answer these 3 questions: DO YOU SELL PRODUCTS ONLINE? If you do then definitely consider investing in an app. DO YOU KEEP IN REGULAR CONTACT WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS? If you regularly update customers with information, or they regularly access information about your products or services, then an app adds real value. It makes it easier to do business with you. Customers like that! DO YOU HAVE A MOBILE WORKFORCE? If you have a dispersed sales force, agents or distributors, then apps are a great way to provide product, pricing and ordering information instantly to people ‘on the move’. If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then consider investigating your options further with an app development company. Also, basic apps are not expensive, so it’s easy to get started, then assess whether it’s worth greater investment. If you want an honest assessment, give me a call. If I don’t think an app is for you, I’ll tell you!” Curt Wilkinson, 01933 215050, curt@dvelop.it, dvelop.it
