2. PURPOSE OF LECTURES
 Lectures can be an efficient means of introducing learners a new topic.
 It helps to clarify the concept.
 It can be used to stimulate students interest in a subject.
 It can also be used to inspire peoples.
 To integrate and synthesize a large body of knowledge.

3.  The lecture is valuable where knowledge is advancing and up to date
textbooks are not available.
 It is an appropriate method making available for large group.
 To promote critical thinking compared to the other methods lecture
usually give less emphasis to critical thinking. Critical thinking can be
encouraged through incorporating challenging questions through out the
lecture.

4. POINTS TO REMEMBER TO MAKE AN
EFFECTIVE LECTURE
The following are the points to be remembered –
 Present an outline of the lecture.
 Repeat the points in several different ways.
 Use short sentences.
 Stress the important points.
 Pause to give listeners time to think and write.
 Use lecture to complement and not to simply repeat the text materiales.

5.  Learn students name and make contact with them during the lecture.
 Avoid racing through the last part of the lecture.
 Schedule time for discussion in the same or next class hour.
 Prepare the content well in advance.

7. IMPORTANCE OF LESSON PLAN IN LECTURE
METHOD
 It is a plan prepared by a teacher to teach a lesson in an organized
manners.
 It ensures a definite objective for the days work and a clear visualization of
that objective.
 It keeps the teacher on the track to ensure steaady progress and a definite
outcome of teaching and learning procedure.
 Enables to choose and adopt effective method of teaching.

8.  Enables to evaluate teaching section.
 It helps the teacher to delimit the teaching field keeps boundaries with in
which the teacher has to work and there by it saves the time and labour.
 When it is well planned interest of students can be maintained.
