It helps to clarify the concept.
It can be used to stimulate students interest in a subject.

To integrate and synthesize a large body of knowledge.

textbooks are not available.
It is an appropriate method making available for large group.
To promote critical thinking compared to the other methods lecture
usually give less emphasis to critical thinking. Critical thinking can be
encouraged through incorporating challenging questions through out the
lecture.
