June 26, 2015
Dear
This is to certify that you have completed the Cultural Competency Training for
Equitable Youth Engagement provided by the Scarborough/East York Service
Collaborative in Scarborough, Ontario on May 29, 2015.
This course contained 6 hours of training and supported the following learning
objectives:
To provide an opportunity for service providers in Scarborough and East York to:
1. Share knowledge and develop skills that support ARAO (anti-racism anti-oppression)
practice and culturally competent and equitable engagement of children, youth and
their families;
2. Explore intersectionality through the review of demographics, culture, social location
and its implication for accessible service delivery;
3. Identify and discuss promising strategies/approaches and ongoing challenges and
opportunities for equitable engagement led by presentations from fellow service
providers and youth service users;
4. “Map the way forward” to support concrete/practical implementation of lessons
learned throughout the day.
We trust you found the training beneficial and that you will be able to put it to use in
your work with children, youth and their families living in Scarborough and East York.
