OBJECTIVES
The “Virtual Silat” is an
online web based coaching
services that provide the platform to all
martial arts fans and practitioners all
around the world to learn Malay martial
arts via internet. The purpose of the
coaching system is to provide the step
by step silat training for the students to
follow and practice based on the manual,
video series and test specification for the
course. It also meant as guide to teach the
self-defense technique using the original
Seni Silat Malaysia approach. The manual
covers the basis of silat which known as
Bunga. It is a form of silat movements or
format that consists of seven steps (langkah)
which are serung, tunjang, terus, undur, ereng,
silat and samping. The Bunga teaches the
students how to master the defensive and
striking position in silat movements. The videos
were divided to three sections which are the
functions of bunga in self-defense, the basis of
hand strikes and the action plan to master the
bunga in seven days. The students interacted
with the instructor via email or media social (e.g.
Facebook) for any question arose during their
training. The silat coaching system is tailored to
meet the current trend of using the internet approach
in teaching and learning compared to conventional
silat that required the guru, training center and the
students. The aim is to facilitate the students to
practice martial arts regardless of where they live.
The students who pass will receive a certificate of
achievement after the guru evaluates the video footage
they submitted for evaluation purposes.
