Stemmed from a study conducted on Best Practices for disseminating labour market information to youth. The results of this study showed that the gamification of lmi and experiential learning were highly effective methods of engaging students.
Partnered with CareerLabsVR, which is a Canadian company that develops career simulations, to launch the pilot project in schools in 2020.
Throughout the project, we were able to collect student feedback and extract measurable outcomes that demonstrated the effectiveness of VR as a career exploration tool.
Since the launch, the project has improved in both process and content. The Career library went from 5 simulations to now almost 30, while continuously expanding that list.
Youth career exploration opportunities for rural and urban learners
Barriers to accessing career opportunities not available in their area
Barriers to access careers that students require a particular age limit (such as heavy equipment operation)
Cater to interest of the individual vs group. No compromising needed.
Housed in the Essential Skills classrooms. Student led initiative within the school.
Students will explore a Career module, on average 15 minutes each, then complete a survey on their experience.
Additional Resources are offered after their experience on Nbjobs.ca.
Each Career module takes the user through a number of tasks (usually 3 or 4) typically required by professionals in that occupation. Most modules range in length, but take approximately 15 minutes to complete (average). Once the student has completed a module, they fill out

TATin historiasta:
