Our experience with Sanitation Indicatorsโ€ฆ
Experience from โ€œthe oldโ€ IBNET work so far The โ€œnew and inclusiveโ€ indicatorsโ€ฆ.
โ€ข Indicators collected in the old IBNET are all
related to piped/on-grid wastewater service
โ€ข Most urban areas in developing countries
have a minimal on-grid wastewater services
โ€ข And most utilities in these countries have to
adapt and provide on-grid and off-grid
wastewater services
โ€ข Support utilities and service providers to
include/incorporate all sanitation services in
their service area
โ€ข Continue to track on on-grid wastewater
services
โ€ข But also adapt the tool to include those that
provide off-grid services

  • 10. 10 Our experience with Sanitation Indicatorsโ€ฆ Experience from โ€œthe oldโ€ IBNET work so far The โ€œnew and inclusiveโ€ indicatorsโ€ฆ. โ€ข Indicators collected in the old IBNET are all related to piped/on-grid wastewater service โ€ข Most urban areas in developing countries have a minimal on-grid wastewater services โ€ข And most utilities in these countries have to adapt and provide on-grid and off-grid wastewater services โ€ข Support utilities and service providers to include/incorporate all sanitation services in their service area โ€ข Continue to track on on-grid wastewater services โ€ข But also adapt the tool to include those that provide off-grid services โ€ข Management practices around the wastewater and sanitation services โ€ข Policies and strategies at the utility and regulation level โ€ข Sanitation and wastewater investment needs โ€ข Support utilities to look at potential market for sanitation
