Born in Catalonia, Spain in 1852
and died in Barcelona in 1926.
Due to rheumatism he was unable
to play like other children, so he
spent a substantial amount of time
studying nature and its
design.
The investigation of nature at an
early age greatly influenced his
highly original architectural
designs.

Sea Serpent is the focal point of the park is the main terrace, surrounded
by a long bench in the form of a Sea Serpent. To design the curvature of the
bench surface Gaudi used the shape of buttocks left by a naked workman
sitting in wet clay.
