7. Next steps
1. As a result of technical cooperation and country support activities, it is hoped
that each country’s level of compliance with the goals defined in resolution
CD48.R6 will be known. A corresponding document will be prepared and
presented to the PAHO Governing Bodies in 2013.
2. Assessment of the situation includes the following activities:
1. Updating and monitoring with CELADE/ECLAC the baseline for coverage and quality
indicators defined in 2005 (review of the databases for calculation of numerators and
certain denominators, updating of the denominators according to reviews of
population projections and estimates in light of the new 2010 round of population
censuses);
2. Consulting with countries on the results of evaluation of coverage and quality of vital
statistics;
3. Conducting situation analysis focused on countries in critical situation as of 2005;
4. Reviewing the situation of each country and monitoring action plans and road maps
with a view to targeting issues so that goals can be met; 5) implementing the RELACSIS
work plan for 2012-13.
