Today's world with its rapid pace in development requires competent and dedicated professionals. Christ University through the School of
law, ful ills this need for professionals in the legal ield.
School of Law, Christ University with a constantly evolving syllabus that is aimed at keeping students aware of the latest developments,
excellent infrastructure which includes a library that is amongst the best in terms of providing access to both physical and online resources,
dedicated faculty and ambitious students has created a niche for itself in the ield of legal education. Further, the students have taken the
initiative to not only participate in a wide variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities but also to organize moot courts,
conferences, workshops and debates.

It gives me immense pleasure in presenting to you the fourth batch of students of School of Law, Christ University set to graduate in the year
2014. It was with this batch in the year 2009 that we introduced BBA LLB (Hons.) along with BA LLB (Hons.) continuing the trend of
innovation in learning. This marks a commendable growth that, we as an institution, have achieved since its inception in the year 2006.
The Curriculum of School of Law is very dynamic, keeping in mind the current requirements of the industry and the upcoming areas of law.
The students are taught a wide range of subjects which helps them in gaining an insight into the multifarious facets this profession can
offer.
The institution, espousing the core values of the University, believes in holistic development of its students. Thus it has been successfully
able to produce students year after year who not only excel in academics but have also proved their mettle in moot courts, debates, client
counseling, arbitration and mediation competitions, conferences and paper presentations at national and international level and have also
excelled in the ield of research and publications.
It is my sincere belief that, following the footsteps of the alumni of SLCU, these students too will carve a niche for themselves in this ield and
given an opportunity, the students of this batch would be an asset to any organisation they serve and would contribute positively to the

them for their achievements. Our students have re lected their hard work, dedication and perseverance in various spheres, including
academics and extra-curricular activities. School of Law aims at providing students the opportunity to excel and nurture the qualities and
skills that will make them professionals in their ield.

The Batch of 2014 has seized opportunities and let themselves shine. School of Law encourages participation and involvement in activities

been involved in the organisational and managerial aspects of several lectures, symposia, debates, competitions, conferences and panel

Formed in 2006, School of Law (SLCU), is a part of Christ University, Bangalore, which was founded and
is administered by Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). CMI, the irst indigenous Catholic religious
congregation of India with a membership of 2000, renders its service to humanity in educational,
social, healthcare and other activities. The parent university, a premier educational institution, is an
academic fraternity of individuals dedicated to the motto of excellence and service and already has a
proven history of success in the ield of education. Though it is a minority institution, Christ University
maintains a secular outlook towards education. Students of all castes, religions, creeds and languages .
Christ University, formerly Christ College had the rare distinction of being the irst institution in
Karnataka to be accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), UGC and
reaccredited with an A+ in 2005 for quality education. In four decades, The Institution has become the
most preferred educational institution in the city of Bangalore.
Located in a beautiful expansive campus of Christ University, Bangalore, SLCU is an institute imparting
world class legal education not only to students from various parts of the country but also from across
borders. The School of Law offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs in law as per
the guidelines of the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission. It has a lexible
curriculum offering several options in different areas of specialization. It is devised keeping in mind
the requirements of legal profession and academia. The programmes offered at the School of Law
incorporate a number of special opportunities such as internships, clinical programme, supervisory
research and writing. In order to promote interaction between students and legal professionals,
seminars, guest lectures and workshops are conducted on various subjects of law at regular intervals.
SLCU also boasts of unmatched infrastructure comprising of well-equipped audio-visual classrooms,
resourceful libraries with the latest legal publications and journals, information center with all-time

10. Infrastructure and Campus Life
MEETING HALLS
A 2000 seater, air conditioned auditorium with projectors, state of the art audio
and lighting system is available for functions. A 300 seater auditorium in the
central block caters to the needs of diminutive meetings and workshops. Three
more auditoriums namely Campus View, Sky View and Green View are located in
the central block. Apart from these auditoriums, Conference Hall, Assembly Hall,
Seminar Hall, Panel Room, Terrace Garden, Mini Auditorium, Council Room and
Birds Park are available exclusively for institutional and departmental
programmes.
State of the art infrastructure amidst greenery is the hallmark of the University. Various seminar halls, Wi-Fi enabled
and LCD mounted classrooms and vast sports grounds add to the ambience of this institution of higher learning.
LIBRARY
The Christ University library houses more than 2,50,000 books, 600 periodicals,
27 newspapers, 5000 CD's and DVD's. The library subscribes to 13 online
databases with campus wide access and has more than 250 computer terminals
to facilitate access to the digital world. The library in-house processes are
computerized and the library catalogue is available online.
UNIVERSITY WEBSITE AND WEBMAIL
Students use their registered number and attendance password for
accessing internet, for checking the attendance, progress report,
downloading hall ticket and marks card. Course material is accessed
through the Learning Management System (LMS), Moodle. Passwords are
assigned by the System Administrator. The website also has campus radio,
calendar and webmail which are hosted from local servers on the campus.
Every student is given a Christ University email-id with 7 GB space. All
academic communication is sent to this id.

11. PRAYER HALLS
The University has prayer halls, with a serene and calm atmosphere for those
who wish to spend time in silence, re lection and prayer.
SPORTS AND GAMES, HEALTH AND FITNESS
The University has separate courts for major sports like basketball, football,
tennis, volleyball, throwball and hockey. Intra-institution and inter-institution
matches and sports day give the students ample opportunity to exhibit their
sports talents and skills. Christ University also has a Multi Gym and Fitness
Centre for both students and faculty. The well-stocked gym consists of Multi
Gym, Manual Walker, ExcerCycle and Weights.
CANTEEN AND KIOSKS
The spacious Cafeteria in the Auditorium Block and Fresheteria in
the Central block offer the students quality food at reasonable
prices. The Kiosk in Block II and the Snack Bar in Block I provide easy
access to students seeking to refresh themselves with snacks during
short breaks. The Ivy Hall and Gourmet provide the students ample
space to relax or study with facilities such as photocopying, snacks
and lunch counters and internet browsing etc.

12. The Batch of 2014
The batch of 2014, has been a symbol of dedication, determination, perseverance and immense talent. The emphasis that School of Law, Christ
University lays on both curriculum as well as activities outside this sphere has been well- imbibed and the students have been instrumental in
establishing SLCU as a distinguished centre for academic and professional excellence. Whilst this is the fourth batch under the BA LLB
program and the third batch under the LLM program, year 2014 would witness the irst batch of students passing out under the BBA LLB
program.
The students of the 2014 batch have earned laurels both inside and outside the law school, ranging from moot court competitions,
conventional and parliamentary debates, client counselling competitions, cultural events and sports tournaments. Well-trained in research
methodology and writing, several students have contributed to legal literature, including national and international journals and law reviews.
They are keenly engaged in social causes and have encouraged legal aid and assistance among the rest of the student body. This group of
students exhibit skill, hard work, pro iciency and honesty in all their endeavours, as individuals and as a batch. Their willingness to learn and
to grow will help them stand out among the legal fraternity.

Legal Awareness Programs
The Student Welfare Of ice provides a platform for students to exhibit their skills and talents.
It is a forum, where through the mode of cultural activities, like-minded people meet each
other, exchange ideas and develop into better human beings. SWO conducts programs like
DARPAN, BLOSSOMS and INBLOOM to identify and nurture talents and provide a platform for
members to develop leadership skills.
The University offers training under the Army Wing of the National Cadet Corps. Parades
and theory classes are held during the afternoon session on Saturdays. The total number of
parades in a year is twenty. Training is held in the University campus. The regular parades
include training in drill, map reading, weapon training, obstacle etc. It also includes
parades for iring, social service and adventure. The adventure activities are parasailing,
horse riding, rock climbing, iring, mountaineering, cycle expedition, motorcycle
expedition, trekking etc.
The University conducts Legal Awareness Camps every year. This year the camps were
conducted in Jyothi Niwas College-Bangalore, Christ College (PU), Christ University-Kengeri
Campus and various slums and rural areas in and across Bangalore.

44. Recruitment Policy
1. Short Title and Commencement
(a) These rules may be called Recruitment Policy, 2014.
2. Definitions
In these rules unless the context otherwise requires,
(a) “Acceptance” means the con irmation by an Applicant which will be
communicated to the prospective Recruiter through the PRC;
(b) “Applicant” means a student of the Batch of 2014 at the School of Law,
Christ University, Bangalore, who has registered himself/herself with
the PRC;
(c) “Final Interview List” means the list of Applicants shortlisted for
appearing in the Final Interviews, in accordance with the procedure
mentioned in clause 7;
(d) “Final Interviews” means interviews conducted by the Recruiters at
any time during the Recruitment Process based on which an offer is
made to the Applicant;
(e) “Internships and Placements Committee” means the Internships and
Placements Committee 2012-13;
(f) “Merit List” means the list of selected Applicants to whom the Final
Offer has been made during the Recruitment Process;
(g) “Offer” means the offer extended by the Recruiter to the Applicant on
the completion of the Final Interview or any other process or processes
undertaken by the Recruiter;
(h) “Placement and Recruitment Cell” (“PRC”) means the independent
unit within the Internships and Placements Committee, which is
entrusted with the responsibility of facilitating the recruitment process;
(I) “Pre Interview Screening” means the process or processes conducted
by the Recruiter, if it is so desirous, for the purpose of shortlisting the
Applicants who will get an opportunity to appear for the Final
Interviews;
(j) “Pre-placement Offer” means an offer for placement received
by an applicant subsequent to individual coordination with a
recruiter, or through a pre-recruitment internship coordinated
by the PRC or the Internships and Placements Committee; (k)
“Recruiter” means any lawyer's chambers, law irm, company,
non-governmental organisation, PSU's or any such organisation
which offers internships or recruitments to law students;
(l) “Recruitment Process” as far as Applicant is concerned-means
the process undertaken to conduct the recruitments, which
begins from the date of registration of the Applicants with the
PRC and concludes when the irst offer is made to the Applicant;
As far as Recruiter is concerned-means the process undertaken to
conduct the recruitments, which begins from the date of
registration of the Recruiter with the PRC and concludes when
con irmation letter is received;
(m) “Rules” means the Recruitment Policy, 2013-14;
(n) “University” means School of Law, Christ University,
Bangalore;
3. Registration of Students
(a) The student's opting to participate in the campus
Recruitment Process would be required to ile with the PRC the
Recruitment Registration Form (Form 'B')on such date/s as the
PRC may specify in this behalf. The Applicant shall produce the
marks sheets and other related documents, on a demand made by
the PRC.

45. 4. Registration of Recruiters
(a) The Recruiters who are willing to participate in the campus
Recruitment Process would be required to ile with the PRC, the
Recruitment Registration Form (Form 'A').
(b) The date and slot shall be allotted and communicated to the
prospective Recruiter by the Placements Team, upon receiving
the Recruitment Registration Form.
5. Pre Placement Talks
(a) Recruiters interested in conducting Pre Placement Talks
(PPT) which facilitates interaction between the students and the
potential recruiters shall coordinate with the PRC and ix dates
for conducting them.
(b) The Pre Placement Talks have to be conducted any time prior
to the beginning of the Pre Interview Screening.
6. Pre Interview Screening
(a) The procedure for Pre Interview Screening (if any) is the
Recruiters own policy.
(b) The Applicants selected in the Pre Interview Screening shall
qualify for appearing in the Final Interviews.
7. Short Listing and the Final Interview List
(a) After the completion of recruitment registration and/or Pre
Interview Screening, PRC shall formulate a Final Interview List
for every registered Recruiter;
(b) The Final Interview List shall contain the names of Applicants
who have quali ied for appearing for the Final Interviews.
(c) The Final Interview List shall be made as per the following:
(i) According to the Recruiter's recruitment policy, or
(ii) According to the results of the Pre Interview Screening
conducted by the Recruiter, or
(iii) In case the Recruiter has no ixed method of short listing
candidates, Curricula Vitae of all interested students shall be
forwarded to the Recruiter for short listing.
(d) In case the Recruiter has no procedure for Pre Interview
Screening, the list of interested students shall automatically
become the Final Interview List.
8. Waitlisted Candidates
(a) All Recruiters shall give a list of waitlisted candidates at two
stages of the Recruitment process to the Placements Team:
(i) Waitlisted Candidates for Interviews: To facilitate interviews
of those who are not in the Final Interview List of the Applicants,
to appear for the Final Interviews.
(ii) Interviewed Applicants Waitlist: To be provided by the
Recruiter, containing candidates beyond the list of selected
Applicants to whom Offers have been made for employment after
the Final Interviews.
(b) The Waitlist for interviews here means that if any Applicant
who is selected in the Final Interview List is not available for the
interview then the Recruiter can interview the Applicant
mentioned in the waitlist, if the Recruiter considers so
appropriate.
(c) The Interviewed Applicants Waitlist refers to interviewed
Applicants, to whom offers for employment have not been made
by the Recruiter, but the Recruiter is willing to consider them if
the Offer has been rejected by an Applicant in the Merit List and
the Recruiter is willing to consider those in the Interviewed
Applicants Waitlist.
(d) All the Waitlists are to be kept con idential and will be
disclosed as per the instructions of the Recruiters. 42
46. 9. Final Offer
(a) All Recruiters will be required to disclose the results of the Final
Interviews and any Offer made to Applicant(s) only through the PRC.
The PRC shall maintain the record of offers accepted and rejected by the
Applicant(s).
(b) All Recruiters need to declare the inal selection results within the
stipulated time as agreed upon by the Recruiter and the PRC, in
accordance with the above rule. The Recruiters will inform and provide
the designated PRC Team member with the Merit List and the Waitlist.
This shall be later made public to the Applicants who had appeared for
the Final Interviews or for the process as undertaken by that Recruiter.
10. Withdrawal
(a) A withdrawal by an Applicant after getting shortlisted for inal
interview shall conclude his/her participation in the Recruitment
Process.
(b) A withdrawal at any stage of the Recruitment Process must be iled
by the Applicant with the PRC in Form C.
11. Miscellaneous
(a) The PRC is the only authorized body to formally approach and

(b) The decision of the PRC regarding selection of the candidates at any
stage of the recruitment process shall be inal.
(c) The PRC may from time to time require the Applicants to ile with the
PRC various documents within a stipulated time frame. Any willful
disregard of the same shall conclude the Applicants participation in the
Recruitment Process.
(d) The Recruiters are requested not to encourage any personal
communication made by candidates whose applications they have
received through the PRC.
