  2. 2. What is LEOS LEOS - Legislation Editing Open Software, is an open source software delivered under ISA² Action 2016.38 Legislation Interoperability Tools – LegIT. LEOS is designed to help drafting legislation, by facilitating efficient online collaboration through: – Comments – Suggestions – Version control – Co-edition – Restrictive structure LEOS supports AkomaNtoso metadata schema
  3. 3. What is ManyLaws ManyLaws is a legal informatics platform, result of a CEF Telecom Action ManyLaws utilizes high-performance computing, automated translation and AI to : – Interrelate laws within a member state legal system – Compare laws between EU member states – Interrelate member state laws and EU directives – Visualize progress and relations of laws – Translate laws to member state languages ManyLaws supports AkomaNtoso, ELI and DCAT metadata schemas ManyLaws is accessible at www.manylaws.eu

  5. 5. Why integrating LEOS with ManyLaws The ManyLaws / LEOS integration can provide parliaments with a powerful solution for legislation drafting, so that users will be able to: 1. Create “clusters” of relevant legislation from an EU member state, for any new legislation that is to be drafted. 2. Locate and cite relevant laws from other EU member states, when drafting new legislation. 3. Locate relevant legislation at EU level, when drafting new legislation. 4. Compare legal elements (e.g. new vs existing) across different domains and countries. 5. Create the necessary metadata when drafting new legislation, so that it is ManyLaws-ready (automatically retrievable). 6. Make any new legal element OpenData-ready, through also inserting the necessary DCAT metadata elements. 7. Use ManyLaws to visualize the legislation process, for a new legal element. 8. Coordinate ManyLaws and LEOS thematic ontologies and controlled vocabularies. 9. Use other advanced features of ManyLaws (e.g. sentiment analysis on social media posts about legislation, intelligent consistency checking on new legislation, automated translation).
