aul has unique and extensive industry specific
experience of both Graphic Design and
print purchase and their techniques and he
understands what is required to fulfil the marketing
requirements of a large organization.
During his time at Celtic Manor, Paul has developed
the brand along with all of its literature and associated
material to ensure that the perceived awareness of the
hotel is that of the highest standard.
In addition to creating the visual appearance of the
Resort, Paul strictly controls the corporate identity and
ensures that wherever the logo or brand appears, it
stands true to the guidelines that he has set out. This
brand control ensures that the logo always appears in
the correct format, with the appropriate image to fully
promote the Resort.
Over the last 11 years Paul has successfully lifted the
brand of Celtic Manor in line and above other world-
class hotels and has been influential in its continued
success as a business and leisure destination.
Paul was crucial in delivering the design proposal
for the Foreign Office in the United Kingdom which
secured the NATO Summit for September 2014. His
ideas for the most professional looking proposal paired
with the flexibility of producing small personalised runs
quickly and in-house were highly commended and
subsequently adopted for other visits and proposals.
As a result of this success, Paul was tasked through a
successful winning bid to create the post NATO legacy
marketing campaign to promote Wales to the world
through print and web advertising.
With the help of Paul’s unique and extensive industry experience of managing graphic design,
The Celtic Manor Resort has won and been short listed for many awards for their advertising and
marketing campaigns. He has helped secure and support world class sporting events such as the
Ryder Cup and was influential in securing the NATO summit through the effective use of design.

s a partner of the award-winning
SportingWales Magazine, Paul has taken
ownership of the page layout, print control,
online version of the magazine as well as the website
and brought the style together gaining the magazine
respect in the industry and also status as the largest
distributed magazine in Wales. With Paul’s unique
skills, he has been able to create a strong style for
the magazine with the images through his digital
manipulation techniques which only this magazine
has adopted to this high standard. In early 2014 the
magazine will become a downloadable app available
across multiple platforms and devices.

To learn new skills Paul in his spare time also runs a Welsh sports magazine; SportingWales,
founded a new business selling personalised design gifts online called ShelfYourself.co.uk, completes
all the design for a company called Funky Little Chickens, has lectured degree level students
and also mentors young entrepreneurs at the Alacrity Foundation
Shelf Yourself was founded by Paul in late 2013
from the constant requests of friends and colleagues
wanting bespoke and custom framed designs for
their walls. Seeing the potential in starting a business
creating personalised gifts and already having the
skill and creativity needed to deliver these products,
ShelfYourself.co.uk was born and new products are
being added all the time.
Funky Little Chickens has been completely designed
by Paul from the outset including the logo, color
palette, website and flyers through to mascots,
signage and email marketing.
As a respected Designer in South Wales, Paul has
been invited on several occasions to lecture Degree
level students at the University of Wales, Newport, one
of the top Universities in the United Kingdom in the
field of graphic design and also the University where
he graduated. He is also a mentor to the Alacrity
Foundation helping the entrepreneurs understand the
importance of good design.
Paul also takes some photographs for Celtic Manor
and is always keen when time is key or budgets are
tight. One of Paul’s pictures from the snow in early
2009 was used on Canada’s Global TV News to
highlight the wintery effects in the UK.

fter joining the Celtic Manor team from
Ubiquity Software Corporation in 2003, Paul
has been promoted from Graphic Designer
to Design Manager and continues to assist the
Marketing team and other departments directly and
indirectly to help them achieve the best result possible.
As a valued asset of Celtic Manor, Paul has been
nominated for Employee of the Month on no less than
ten occasions and won once.

Individual commitment to a group effort is what makes a team work, and Celtic Manor succeed
Wesley Clover often calls on Paul for his skill in helping
them design logos, branding, websites and literature
for a number of companies in the portfolio. He
designed the Wesley Clover website in 2011 and is
currently designing a new responsive version to work
seamlessly across multiple devices, tablets and smart
phones.
Being known for his creativity, flexibility and sense of
humor, he builds a good rapport with the team as well
as customers and clients. He also has the ability to
interpret the needs of a client’s unspoken wishes and
come up with the right solution.
Working to a budget is something Paul does well and
can successfully meet targets and find ways to cut
costs without sacrificing impact.

At Celtic Manor, Paul manages and maintains all print and digital services, providing
strategic leadership and direction to his associate designer. He leads the design
direction for all projects throughout the Resort from simple stationary items to the
responsibility of creating the proposals instrumental in the NATO commitment.
His design ideas were crucial in the visual branding of the new Twenty Ten Clubhouse,
in the sourcing of images including the negotiating of costs as well as the print
production and framing of them.
Paul was invited to join The Celtic Manor Resort team from Ubiquity Software
Corporation to lift the brand of Celtic Manor to 5 star status, to cut costs and ensure
the brand reflects the fact that Celtic Manor is a leading hotel on the world stage and
continues to attract world class conference and leisure guests to it.
Paul has designed simple and clear brochures mixed with technical illustrations and
floor plans to promote the Resort as well as email campaigns, digital and interactive
brochures, flyers, exhibition stands and campaigns for multiple purposes.

Having been employed at Ubiquity Software from an end of year show exhibited at
his University, he took over the reigns from the previous Designer and worked with
the Marketing team to produce items such as:

Ubiquity had offices in Newport South Wales, Ottawa Canada and San Francisco
and supplied products all over the World, principally to fixed and mobile telephone
operators. All marketing materials were supplied with consistent imagery around the
globe and often in multiple languages.

11. SportingWales Magazine,
Wales’ largest sports magazine
As a partner and cofounder of SportingWales Magazine,
Paul is responsible for the art direction of the complete
magazine as well as the layout, print, online version of the
magazine and also the website and new downloadable
app. This magazine has been setup, produced, printed
and distributed without any financial backing and is after
25 issues, the largest distributed magazine in Wales. An
interactive app version of the magazine with videos of
interviews has also been launched online and the list of
subscribers and financial backers is growing daily.

ShelfYourself.co.uk,
Give Yourself a Shelfie™
Paul founded ShelfYourself.co.uk in his spare time to fill a
new market hunger for personalised prints and bespoke
art created as original works of art. With his ability in design
and e-commerce website creation, shelfyourself.co.uk
was built over a couple of months and the designs it offers
grows steadily. Items for sale are telegrams from Santa,
personalised bucket lists, baby birth keepsakes, new home
art as well as its most popular design called ‘isms, a design
made up of just words and sayings that a person uses.
Always a good talking point and can be customised to fit
any purpose.
During the creation of ShelfYourself.co.uk Paul learnt new
essential skills such as SSL certificates, Wordpress, SEO,
ecommerce, encryption, payment gateways and coupon
integration.
Funky Little Chickens™
Children’s salon and store
In a collaboration with the owner of Funky Little
Chickens, Paul led the design and direction in this
start-up company and before the doors opened
produced a website, logo, facebook and other
social media buzz as well as the decoration of the
exterior of the building and flyers and price lists.
Posters and alternate designs of their mascot;
Rocky the Chicken have been designed for
classes and occasions such as first aid classes,
Halloween parties, parent and child evenings,
Christmas events, pamper parties etc.
Funky Little Chickens continues to grow and be a
success in the community.
