  4. 4. SUMMARY • A career is defined as the sequence of work positions held by a person during his or her lifetime. Career development is the process that forms a person's work identity. It is a significant part of human development and spans over the individual's entire lifetime, beginning when the individual first becomes aware of how people make a living. • For example, when a child notices that some people are doctors, others are firefighters, and some are carpenters, it signals the start of this process. It continues as that person begins to explore occupations and ultimately decides what career to pursue him- or herself. • Career development doesn't end there. After you choose a profession, you must then get the required education and training, apply for and find employment, and ultimately advance in your career. For most people, it will also include changing careers and jobs at least once during their work lives, but probably more often than that.

As we live in a world governed by social status and money, working your way up to the top will definitely improve your quality of life. There are many possible reasons for which an individual would desire success. • One of the reasons is that maybe by being successful in your professional life makes you feel better among other people. It offers you a feeling of security and accomplishment. Many people who went from zero to a successful career have reported that their lives were improved in almost all the aspects. • There are certain habits and activities that successful people from all over the world do. The best way of approaching success is by following and figuring out what are the strategies that professionals use, and model them according to your needs

Networking. refers to creating and maintaining beneficial relationships with others to accomplish your goals. It helps to have friends in high places and contacts who can keep you informed of changes that are going on in your organization and industry. Seek a mentor. To enhance your mobility, increase your knowledge of your organization’s inside workings, gain greater access to senior executives, increase satisfaction, and increase visibility.
