Remember the pedal car you had as a child? – it was great wasn’t it!
So this is nothing like that!
The British Federation of Pedal Car Racing (BFPCR) holds the British Pedal Car Championship with races held at
some of the well known karting circuits around the UK.
http://pedalcarracing.info/
The Gloucestershire Business Games Pedal Car Race will be held to BFPCR specifications, though not included
in its championship series.
Our Race Director, Rob Harris has for a number of years worked alongside the BFPCR to develop Pedal powered
Races and we’re looking forward to building a race event that will be a significant fixture in the Gloucestershire

Promote engineering & technical design across the
county of Gloucestershire
Whether your business is about engineering or not, you
can enter a team and in doing so help drive discussion
and awareness about the importance of engineering
and technical design to the county.
If you have engineers and workshops in house, then
you can design and build from scratch working on
technical solutions to give you speed, agility and
aerodynamics
If your business isn’t about engineering, then you can
team up with one of the county’s many engineering
businesses to create a collaboration that will forge great
staff relationship, possible new clients – and might even
win a race!
Or you can opt to acquire a pre-raced car from a
BFPCR race or corporate team – we can make all the
introductions you need.
Why would you be involved?

Staff training & development
– engineering apprentices
What a great opportunity for a practical training project
for apprentices, engineers and workshop operators.
Great challenges in fresh thinking and problem-solving.
Produce a working and robust machine outside your
usual line of work, which later on will feed new ideas to
your normal processes. The team taking on the design
and build will also find new relationships as they come
out to race their own pedal car.
Staff training & development
– team development
For those not involved in the practical engineering,
there are places for drivers, project managers,
mechanics, and non technical apprentices all of who
make up the team which has to pull together to win.
Why would you be involved?

media channels with Bronze, Silver and Gold winners.
We expect an exciting and high profile competition that
will be covered by the Gloucestershire Business Show
marketing & communications team.
Our team will fully engage with the Marketing
communications teams for our corporate entry teams,
with significant brand promotion of the games before,
during & after the event.

The Vehicle
Cars will be built to BFPCR specification and can
therefore also be raced at any of the six BPCC races
(off-road circuits, March-Sept) and the street Grand
Prix. The spec mostly concerns dimensions for wheel
spacing, turning circle, brakes. Most cars use a
standard derailleur mechanism but hub gears have their
advantages. It also helps to invest in a differential which
offers traction to both rear wheels.
The Race
Each car will be scrutineered and fitted with a sensor to
trigger the lap-counter.
The Racing will be held over two days with heats and
knock out finals that will result in Bonze, Silver & Gold
positioning,
Each team will adopt a charity and a cash prize will be
awarded to the Gold position split between the Teams
Chosen Charity and the Gloucestershire Business
Show Charity of the year.
So how does it work?
