An authentic commitment to Workplace Health and Safety is regarded as a top priority for any organisation with the
consequences for non-compliance or negligence severe. Embedding a resilient culture is necessary for the safety and success

workplace health and safety, which results in improved and sustainable productivity. This means that an effective and inclusive

7. INTRODUCING YOUR FACILITATORS:
Deanne is an accomplished work health and safety professional, speaker, facilitator and coach with extensive experience and
expertise in workplace health and safety. She has a passion for building pro-active, productive safety cultures through the
application of the principals of modern psychology, neuroleadership, mindfulness and other transformational methodologies to
gain acceptance and achieve positive change in an organisations safety culture.
As a former police officer, WorkCover (NSW) Inspector, Senior WHS Executive for a number of iconic Australian and Global
companies and now Director and Principal Consultant of her own WHS & HR Consulting, training and coaching business,
Deanne has experienced first-hand the devastating impact of workplace safety gone wrong and seen the benefits when it is
done right. She believes that while policies and procedures are extremely important, on their own they will not stop people
from being injured at work and is passionate about creating a positive safety culture where everyone is accountable and takes
responsibility for their actions.
Deanne works with organisations and individuals providing them with an insight into how the brain works and how people’s
thinking and attitudes drives behaviours. She challenges the way people think, motivates senior executives, mid-level managers
and supervisors to be more visible and proactively lead safety in the workplace and empowers workers to take control of their
own personal safety with the ultimate goal being to create sustainable awareness and capability across the organisation.
Deanne holds formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Training & Assessment, Coaching, and Change Management and is
due to complete her Bachelor of Psychology in 2015.
Marissa practises exclusively in workplace health and safety law and is considered a leading practitioner in this area. She has
particular expertise in incident response, OH&S investigations and regulatory prosecutions. Marissa has extensive experience
in dealing with regulatory authorities including the Victorian WorkCover Authority (formerly WorkSafe), Energy Safe Victoria,
Comcare and Transport Safety Victoria. She is passionate about OHS law and strives to ensure that all clients, whether big or
small, can have access to quality legal advice for their safety matters.
Prior to starting Dreher Legal, Marissa worked for 10 years in one of the largest OH&S practices in Australia. She was a
senior member of this team and was responsible for managing its Melbourne OH&S practice, including leading many of its
key prosecutions, administrative reviews and coronial inquests. She has advised local, national and international companies
on all aspects of OH&S law, from proactive compliance strategies to OH&S litigation. She has acted for both large and small
organisations, spanning a wide range of industry sectors.
Marissa is also an experienced trainer, regularly providing compliance training for employees and managers, conducting Board
and senior executive briefings.
Marissa holds an Honours degree in law from Monash University. She is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the
Safety Institute of Australia.

Gaye Cameron is the Principal Consultant and owner/manager of Gaye Cameron & Associates, and Counselling Service for
You. Gaye’s expertise goes beyond just work health and safety, but over the last 28 years her skills, knowledge and expertise
has extended into providing expert advice and service to corporations, developing integrated management systems (WHS,
Quality and Environment), to developing and conducting ‘Behaviour Programs’ for Senior Management and the Work Force.
Gaye has worked in Senior Level roles for many organisations, including NSW Government, University of New South Wales,
Macquarie University, TAFE NSW, NSW Police, ProPack Packaging, BSA Limited, National Safety Council of Australia just to
name a few. Gaye’s qualifications extend to MBA (Leadership & Sustainability) [UoC, UK], GradDip Business & Environmental
Management [UoN, Aus], GradDip OHS [UNSW, Aus], Dip Risk & Security, Dip Education, Dip in Counselling, and finishing her
GradDip in Psychological Sciences [Syd, Aus]. Gaye has published many Journal writings, and also written Chapters of Text’s
for CCH Publications in Work Health Safety and Disaster Management. Gaye’s philosophy in life is ‘Love life – work to live’.
Gaye is married to her hero, and has a successful daughter who is now at University studying nursing. Gaye loves to share with
her audience her experiences and knowledge, so that you can make a change for the better and not repeat history. Gaye says

Steve Williams runs a Risk Management consultancy, specialising in incident investigation, risk assessment facilitation, systems
auditing and training. He has facilitated and led a large number of incident investigations, from minor incidents to fatalities and
business incidents costing many millions of dollars, in a range of industries and settings.
He also runs training courses in incident investigation and risk assessment facilitation, accredited through the Australian
Qualification Framework, utilising such techniques as Root Cause Analysis, SSIA and ICAM. Steve has a practical, strategic
and solutions focussed approach to training and facilitation and draws from over 20 years of experience in Workplace health
and safety and risk management across three continents.
Gary has over 25 years of experience in workplace safety and leadership. Key specialities include; safety culture and leadership
programs, independent facilitating, incident investigations and strategic planning. He also coaches executive teams and takes
part in governance committees in risk management and safety leadership. Gary has presented at numerous conferences both
locally and overseas including the Safety Institute of Australia (SIA) Conference Melbourne Workshops with the Law Institute.
Gary led a world-wide project on machinery safety, called zero access, for multi-national manufacturers between 2009 and
2012. Risk assessments were conducted in 12 countries including; Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, UK, US, Pakistan,
Japan, India and Mexico. Previous positions of Gary’s include Deputy General Manager at Richard Oliver Risk Managers, OHS
Manager for National Safety Council of Australia, Safety Co-ordinator for Swinburne University and Safety Engineer for the
Department of Agriculture.
Gary’s academic qualifications include; a Bachelor of Engineering (civil), Graduate Diploma in Education and a Graduate
Diploma in Occupational Hazard Management.
He is also a member of The Institution of Engineers Australia, Australian Institute of Risk Management, Australian Institute of
Company Directors and Fellow of Safety Institute of Australia.
