My happiness journey • If someone can do this after 50, imagine the possibilities that you have 1 Age Interesting achievements 50 • Learnt ‘lateral thinking’ from Peter De Bono in Oxford • Transitioned a products development centre from UK to India • Created a tool for Project Managers – freedom from fear of QA audits 51 • Lived in a village to observe school drop-outs ‘converted’ into entrepreneurs • Moved from BFSI to Telecom domain 52 • Submitted a patent idea in telecom domain • Started giving annual donation to MIT OpenCourseWare as my way of ‘giving’ 53 • Started learning painting, sitting alongside 6-12 year olds • From Telecom delivery to HR - Performance Management/ Emp Engagement • Started meeting one employee on each day on his/ her birthday 54 • Learnt the art and science of coaching (Paris/ Reading) • Implemented PCMM for India unit • Wrote my first book • Invented an exercise called ‘ball bearing’ • Initiated ‘90 day project’ videos for young parents 55 • Created a tool based on Tom Peters’ ‘Have you in the last ten days?’ • Pushed my 81 year old mother to start her blog 56 • Created technical competency framework for four off-shoring countries • Started an experiment in collaborative painting • Started creating designer books for global CEOs • Studied Gallup’s Q12 and created a manager-employee-dialogue dashboard • Pushed my 82 year old mother to make edits in Wikipedia

My happiness journey 2 Age Interesting achievements 57 • Published my first book (Amazon, 2010) • Birthday gift for my mother-book on her 10 year research on medicinal plants • Started sessions on ‘What’s your passsion?’ to egg people find their passion • Created Fellowship framework for the company and conducted the first assessment • Started giving away my books free to those who donate to Sunitha Krishnan 58 • Worked with the famous Seattle fishmongers • Created a People Manager manual called Bushido • Learnt Fishbone diagram to apply it to a problem – ‘The managers know it all about managing people, yet they don’t practice it – Why?’ 59 • Five day world conference on Appreciative Enquiry, Ghent, Belgium • Presented a new concept called ‘Project Manager donning a CEO hat’ in CII • Initiated a collaborative exercise where Writers’ club members co-authored a book with a management guru 60 • Introduced the Multiple Intelligences concept in the corporate world • Celebrated 60th birthday with Anil Gupta and his grass-root level inventors from villages in Gujarat • Built ‘report cards’ for a few friends talking to them each month • Creating framework for Employee Communities applying PCMM approach • Studying ‘the art and science of happiness’ (MIT OpenCourseWare) Prabodh Sirur, sirurp@gmail.com, +91 99456 94937
