2. WhatisPraise? Praise: To commend, applaud, magnify; The extolling or exaltation of a deity, ruler, or hero. John 4:24 - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. One cannot be a true worshipper without first entering a gateway of praise! Praise transports us into the realm of the supernatural and into the power of God.
4. The Loosing Power of Praise Act 16:22-26 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
5. ElevationIntoGod’sPresence Psalm 22:3 - But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Praise is a vehicle of faith which brings us into the presence and power of God! Psalm 100:4 - Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Matthew 18:20 - For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
6. God’sPresenceRequiresPraise 2 Samuel 6:14-15 David brings the ark of the Covenant Isaiah 6:1-4 Praise continuously surrounds the throne of God Revelation 4:8, 11 Praise is continuous in the heavenlies
7. Living a Life of Praise Psalm 34:1 - I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Hebrews 13:15 - By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Praise is a “sacrifice,” something that we offer to God sacrificially, not just because we feel like it, but because we believe in Him and wish to please Him.
8. Praiseis a Weapon! Because praise invokes the presence of God, it is an effective weapon against the enemy, who is always defeated when God shows up! Psalm 50:23 - Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
9. Victory in Praise Jehosaphat and the children of Judah (meaning “praise”) 2 Chronicles 20:21-22 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
10. Victory in Praise The Wall at Jericho Joshua 6:20 – 21 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
11. Praiseis the Gateway to Miracles, Signs and Wonders! God will demonstrate His power in an atmosphere of praise! 1 Kings 18:36 – 39 (38-39 shown) Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
12. Tangible Benefits of Praise His Presence: When you praise and worship God, you are bringing down His presence, because he inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 100:4). His Power: When you praise and worship God, He manifests his power (Acts 16:30-31). His power saves, heals, and delivers. His Glory: When you praise and worship God, the Glory of God comes down (1 Kings 8:10-11). His Anointing: When you praise and worship God, the anointing of God descends upon His servants. Because of this they are able to minister more effectively. (II Kings 3:15-16). His Deliverance: When you praise and worship God, the deliverance power of God comes into play (II Chronicles 20:1-20). God comes down to deliver His people as they praise and worship Him.
13. Expressions of Praise Declaring of thanks (Heb. 13:15) Clapping hands and shouting (Psalms 47:1) Musical instruments and dancing (Psalms150:4) Singing praise songs (Psalms 9:11) Psalms, hymns, & spiritual songs (Eph. 5:19-20) Making a joyful noise (Psalms 98:4) By lifting our hands (Psalms 134:2) By being still (Psalms 4:3-5, 46:10) By being loud (Psalms 33:3, 95:1-6)
